Journeying Through Grief (4-Book Set)

I’ve purchased multiple sets of these books after receiving a set myself when my mother passed away. These books guide a person through their first year of grief. Nothing fancy or clinical, but a simple assurance in a time of turmoil. I loved these books as I felt like they helped me to understand what I was going through was “normal.” It also helped put things into perspective concerning those around me (such as friends who had not experienced a loss).As a result of my positive experience with these books, I have since passed my set along and purchased additional sets to give to those around me experiencing grief. Everyone always tells me that they loved the books as well and found them to be helpful in a difficult.

We lost our 35 year old son a few months ago. A friend has been sending us these books at the suggested intervals, ie. 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months then the last between 11 and 12 months. Of all the books we've been given and that we've read these are, by far, the best for my husband and me. Kenneth Haugk has nailed exactly were we've been in our journey of grief. Another thing we like about these books is they are short and easily read in an hour. I, personally, cannot sit down and read 200+ pages on grief. It's just too much for me.These books are so helpful that we donated a set to our local Hospice, where we've been receiving grief counselingI highly recommend these books.

I'm a professional counselor, a Protestant minister and have done some hospital chaplaincy including death calls. This book series was personally very helpful when my wife died a few years ago. I have also shared it with others. This is an excellent resource for grief. It gently offers numerous brief but real examples of what others have experienced about the many facets of grief. It normalizes a wide variety of reactions. It includes occasional brief quotations from the Bible and from other authors who have written about grief. The chapters are short and easy to read and digest, even when you are distracted or very distressed. Its good for picking back up to re-read portions.

This is the 3rd time I have read thru this series and I am sure not the last. It is so simple and easy to pick up and just read one or two chapters at a time . Easy to use during meditation or prayer time. Also a great resource for a group . Personally the content for me applied to all kind of losses I have experienced including death of loved ones and loss of hopes and dreams. I highly recommend these books. Envelopes were also included so that books could be sent to others.

After my husband died suddenly, my cousin, who is a therapist, sent me these books. They helped me more than most other books I read, or tried to read, during those first few awful months. Each book is short, which is good because those who are grieving can't focus long enough to read any thing lengthy. The books spoke to the simple, but important facts, of an early griever. I cannot recommend them enough. Each book covers a period. The first week, the first month, the third month. The fourth book is a year out. I'll be picking that one up shortly.

These are 4 booklets and perfect for reading when I was ready. A friend loaned me hers, but one at a time. As I moved through the stages of grief, it was important to receive the right messages at the right time for that stage. The messages kept reminding me that hope would return and it was okay to grieve. I purchase this set for a friend whose husband passed a few months after mine.

Love the books! I am a widow and it touched on many things to help you get through such a devastating time in your life. The books are thin and one can easily be read in an evening. I have reread them many times. Would also be nice to pass on when you are done with them.

Single most helpful aide since I lost my honey. Hubby and I were married 45 years. Nobody knows how you feel and what you need. This publication is so wonderful I ordered a case to have on hand just in case.....
