Sakura 12-Volt Ceramic Car Heater and Cooler

Loads of negative reviews - yes, it is almost useless if you're wanting it as a hair dryer - but, consider the limitations of the voltage, it does as good a job as it could possibly do. Not very warm, but enough to clear a space on a screen and for the money, does the job.

I purchased this hoping to help deal with the heat in my car as unfortunately my heating is not working, it arrived well packaged, however thats where the good part stops. This product does not produce any heat or warmth, I have tried being close to it and being away from it and it makes no difference, i have tried leaving it in the car on for a while before getting in and it still doesnt warm the car, my journey to work is 45 mins on a good day and even having it on for this whole journey does not create any heat. It is also extremely noisy and makes a very loud whirring the whole time it is on. I would not recommend this product at all.

Now then, here's a strange one. If you're expecting any kind of a heater forget it! However, I bought it to clear the windscreen on my,,, mobility scooter (yes you heard right). I have one of those fully enclosed, plastic canopy jobbies, which is prone to steaming up a little. obviously I couldn't run it off the scooter's 24 volt system so I added a separate 22ah 12volt battery and connected it up to that. When I use it on the heater setting (which doesn't give much heat and blows a lot less air to boot) the battery lasts about 20 minutes, but if I use it on cold, it blows well, clears the screen and lasts about 3 times as long. Whether that sounds any use to you in your car I couldn't say but for what I want, it's just right.

Does what I need for the price. However I did not expect for a new product that the car lighter plug to be rusted. However I sanded off rusted points and it still worked.

Its Ok to defrost the windscreen before departure after a frost. But if I keep it on to maintain a clear screen it always blows the 25 amp fuse so I can only use it while I am stationary.

I really don't understand why this product has had such negative reviews. This unit is never going to replace a cars heating/cooling system but if yours is not working, this is a good quick fix to see you through until you get it fixed or to give you a bit of instant de- misting until your engine warms up. It is best placed on the dashboard with the outlet vent facing the driver. This way the heated air has a chance to spread a little before hitting the windscreen. The unit is rated 150 watts but most 12v lighter outlets are rated at around 120-150W so any more power would be blowing your fuse. Only downsides are - It's a bit noisy but this is just air flow noise, as air flow is what you want there's no avoiding this. There is white writing printed on top of the unit which reflects onto the windscreen. A bit of black insulating tape solves this. I bought this out of desperation after my car heater packed up and wasn't expecting much after reading other reviews but was pleasantly surprised. It's certainly doing the job for me.

Would not even give it half a star! Even when held just 3" from my eye I could not feel any heat. The fan blower was ridiculously weak and ineffective. Blew fuse in my car power socket after just a minute's use. Immediately got a refund.

Our Corsa, due a steep sloping windscreen is very prone to misting and even icing in winter. Having tried this heater out I can report it seems effective enough and should be a big boost to the car's own efforts. Not deepest winter yet of course. Only slight problem is I think it will be a big draw on the battery, but this would be true of any plug- in and instructions do include, use only when engine running. It must be either screw fixed or you need a fairly flat part of the dashboard, I use one of those non slip mats and everything works ok. Seems well enough made.
