Garbage Can Security System (Pack of 2)

These things work GREAT. Easy to install and they keep us from cleaning up garbage every morning. Drill 4 holes per can to install. Took me less than 5 minutes per can. I added some washers to the inside of the can in front of the retaining nuts.

The raccoon still managed to slide the top enough, plus knock over the can, and get his little hands on some goodies. Just made him more determined. I think it needs to be in the shape of an X please!!!!

I'm so happy I finally bought this product to keep critters out of my garbage cans. Before I installed it, my driveway was strewn with trash every morning, which my dog would then pick through and make himself sick. The straps are quite easily installed - it took me about 15 minutes to install both sets on my 2 cans with a power drill. The raccoons have still toppled my cans, but there's no more mess on the ground! The garbage guys seem to have an easy enough time with them too. I took off one star because I think squirrels can still manage to get into the toppled cans and rummage in the trash, but at least the mess is contained to the can.

These are terrific! Because I was trying to install them past dusk it wasn't centered well so the lid can only go on one way. White nail polish alignment marks on the lid and can eliminates any confusion resulting from my error. Easy to use after installed. Removing the lid or putting it back on is really no hassle at all. Even if you don't have raccoons, get these. You still have wind from storms that can blow your cans over allowing skunks, rats and other vermin to scatter it and make a mess.Edit after 4 months of use... Changed to 3* from 5. Despite installing very tightly on a can that has a 3" overlapping seem on the lid with a fairly tight seal... the raccoons still manage to get in and tear up my trash. IDK how it's possible. I can't get the lid up at all myself, but apparently they have no problem doing it. Anyone have a night vision camera I can borrow? Maybe I need to install a second pair perpendicular to the first?

We have a horrible raccoon problem. We live in the country, and they are pests. hate to set traps because we have cats who go outside. We tried planting mint around our garbage cans, sprinkling chili flakes, we put bricks on top, bungee cords, duct taped them shut, and these raccoons even tried to pry open a gallon jug of vinegar _which is supposed to deter raccoons. So far these straps have worked. We drilled holes in the sides to screw them in - and cross cross across the top as well as put a motion detetection light on top and they have worked for two weeks now.

Easy to install (may need a small metal washer, be careful and not drill too far into plastic can, it'll go through if you go too far), adjust strap to desired tightness, keeps raccoons out. Does exactly what I needed, no more ripped up trash bags. Simple and effective. I wish everything was this easy.

Within a week, some animal chewed through the belt and removed the lid from the garbage can where I keep bird seed. For a couple of days the squirrels had quite a feast. This setup is worthless. Sorry, folks.
