Does it cool the air when circulating?

The fan cools only as much as a fan would cool the air. It is not an air conditioner. But this fan is taller than most, so it does a much better job of cooling a room, in my opinion.And it absolutely is not noisy, as some reviews stated; also, the blue light doesn't 'light up the whole house' as others have said. We absolutely love this fan. Hopefully you will too.

What kind of screws dows this need to properly attach the base? My unjt arrived without hardware :(

I didn't know it needed screws. The base snaps together, then I twist locked the unit onto the base. Can't imagine why screws are needed unless this question is somehow not for my particular fan, or this model has changed since 2015 (T42951)

does ionizer really work for smoke?

Don't know for smoke, but it helps when the dog has gas!

do you have to buy filters for the air purifier?

Use compressed air to clean the fan out. Do it outside though, it’ll be dust city
