You need this to keep your espresso machine clear of coffee oil buildup. Make sure that the version you purchase fits your portafilter. Quality is very good: it snaps into the portafilter and creates a good seal on the machine for cleaning the head and drain tube areas.

This Rancilio 58mm backflush disk works for backflush purpose, but the metal is low quality, not stainless steel. On the first use with Urnex Cafiza, the finish on the inside of the disc degraded around the edge of the flat portion of the disc. It's not simply discolored - the finish of the metal wore off, exposing a rough base metal. The photo was taken after only one use, and I suspect the rest of the finish will wear off during continued use. I would have expected cheap materials from an off-brand, but was surprised to see such low quality from a Rancilio OEM part. The Rancilio portafilter baskets (even the new 18g basket) are much higher quality and retain their finish through years of use and deep cleaning. Though this 58mm backflush disk is marked "Rancilio" there's a chance that it's a counterfeit part (which is a common Amazon problem due to the lingering effects of Amazon's inventory commingling, which it ended last month) or that Rancilio's supplier deceived Rancilio by providing an inferior pot metal part. Regardless of the disappointing material quality, the backflush disk works just fine.

It does the thing it’s supposed to do! Fits great, inexpensive, made of stainless and works perfectly. Necessary for keeping your machine clean and running smoothly.

Worked a treat

So much better than the rubber insert that comes with the machine! Makes cleaning machine a tidyer experience.

I'm not a fan of the small plastic disk Rancilio include in their Silvia kit and don't understand why they don't include this blind portafilter basket with the Silvia. That said, this does the job.

It looks used but sturdy, wich actually gives it some charm.
