It doesn't produce SUPER rough crack, at its coarsest it's still a medium grind, so if you need rough cracked pepper for something like steak au poivre, a mortar & pestle is still your #1 bet. But it spits out pepper like a madman and the grind is VERY consistent, it doesn't get bound up or struggle to bring peppercorns down into the teeth, the fit and finish is good (not perfect, but this isn't asking much money) and it does exactly what it needs to - grind pepper quickly and consistently. the action is very smooth and pleasant to use, too. ### ⭐ Don’t Buy this Pepper Grinder *by M***A on Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2020* Horrible Peppermill Grinder!
