Cable Matters DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, Unidirectional DP to HDMI

I gotta preface this by saying I made a mistake. I assumed this was an active adapter, as I didn't realize they made "inactive" ones. I also didnt realize this was limited to 1080P. So that was an issue for me, as I meant to use this with a Huion Camvas 16 Pro, which has a 1440P screen but only takes HDMI. Needless to say, this didnt work with my tablet. Hopefully this can help someone else looking for a similar device to use with their tablet - look for an active adapter that can handle 1440P or 4K! However, for me not all was lost, as I was using my single HDMI port from my graphics card to output to a home theater receiver that I use for my speakers. So I plugged the Huion to the HDMI on my graphics card and used this DP to HDMI adapter to connect to the receiver via HDMI, and it worked! I was kinda surprised, as I didnt expect DP to also output audio, but it does. Worked perfectly! Aside from that, the adapter feels well made and sturdy. Seems pretty quality.

I looked around a lot before purchasing this item and selected it for two main reasons: 1. The previous reviews that I read, and 2. The great price and value I completely agree with one of the previous reviewers that having the short length of flexible cable between the two ends of the adapter makes this a far more safer, reliable, and convenient product. The other designs have a long, rigid dongle that is far more likely to exert serious strain on the computer's DP connector and eventually damage it. I tested this with my new Fujitsu Lifebook T901 PC and a 47-inch Mitsubishi LCD TV - and it worked the first time - video and audio! The T901 itself actually has an HDMI port and does not need this adapter, but the port replicator/docking station that Fujitsu sells for this laptop has a DP port instead of HDMI - that's what I used in this test. I was worried about getting audio - not all DP ports or adapters support audio transmission - but in this case both did. The only thing I am worried about now is that I have seen some reviews (of OTHER PRODUCTS - not this one) that say that the "latching" feature of the DP connector breaks after a while, especially if you plug/unplug frequently. Personally, I think the latching is unnecessary and actually a pain in the a$$. I'd very much like to see this adapter made without the latches. But I am just guessing that it is part of the DP spec because I have not seen a single DP adapter or cable out there without this. Hope that changes. Bottom line - great product and great value so far!

The adapter arrived relatively quickly and was as represented in the picture and description. I plugged it into the DisplayPort on my laptop (HP EliteBook 8460p)and connected it to the HDMI cable in one of the ports in the 24" tv (Sony NSX-24GT1) I am using as a second monitor. It worked right away. I got both sound and video without altering any settings on either the computer or the tv. The picture is clear and the sound is clear and strong. I run windows in extended screen mode and the text in the windows is as clear and easy to read on the tv as it is on the laptop screen. I had read reviews about some adapters being difficult if not impossible to disconnect from the DisplayPort connector but I have no such difficulty with this adapter. It holds well and releases easily with a press of the release button on the top face of the adapter. The flexibility of the cable makes it easy to get my hand around the adapter and press the button with my thumb for removal. I would recommend this adapter for any application similar to mine.

I was using a Dell laptop with the DisplayPort and wanted a way to stream Netflix to the HDTV. I was surprised when I searched for an HDMI port on the laptop that there was none to be found. My laptop is about 4 years old, so maybe the newer laptops have HDMI ports included now. I was very pleased with the Cable Matters adapter. It worked the first time I plugged it in. I went to the Display Properties (on my XP laptop system) and chose to extend the display to Display #2 and then had my HDTV as a second monitor!! Very simple to use and the cable has a locking feature on the DisplayPort side so that the cable doesn't get disconnected without pushing the release button. I got a super clear picture and sound came through the TV sound system with no problems. It did seem like I had to turn up the volume quite a bit to get the volume level from the DisplayPort to match the normal volume of the TV. That was not that big a deal for me, though. Definitely a good purchase if you choose to stream from laptop to HDTV with HDMI. One potential negative is the very short cable length between the male plug and the female HDMI port. That didn't really affect my setup in a negative way. It would be nice if the HDMI port had a locking mechanism like the DisplayPort side, too. I have not seen an HDMI cable with a locking element, though, so that may not even be an option.

Hi, Got the cable/adapter on the day it was promised to recieve. Thanks for Amazon for their continuous efforts in making things better for their customers and meeting their promises. Now back to review, This cable i bought for my Lenovo Thinkpad T420 laptop and it worked excellent. Picture quality was way better and sound was exceptionally good. Worked by just plug and play method. No drivers required at all. I also observed that quality is better than the direct HDMI cable which i used in my another Lenovo Y550 laptop with NVIDA graphics card. Where as Thinkpad was with corei5 processor supported graphics chipset and still the quality and sound was better in Thinkpad. Go for it and grab yours before it get sold out. Reasonable price as compared to other listings, build quality is strong. There's also the button on display port which you need to press to pull out the adapter. I liked this button as this avoids loose connections causing faults. Highly recommended for Thinkpad Users as it is tried and tested in mt own T420 model. -Thanks

I have a 4K monitor that doesn't use DP. Personally I really don't like DP due to the clips used on the connection. So, I've changed everything over to HDMI and used this adapter on the computer. I also use one of these on my theater amplifier to my 85" TV. While it has DP, I couldn't find a good reason other than spending more money on the cable to do the same thing as the audio is handled by the amp and there is no return data from the TV needed... (ie it's a massive moniter). I used my Amazon Firestick and loaded up third party applications so I can stream whatever media I want. The default firestick just flat out sucks for streaming unless you mod it... Once modded, it's almost as good as a Chromecast Ultra with a rooted Android phone. Or you could just get a Chromecast Ultra and forego the unnecessary steps of having to hack anything to make it moderately useful.

Works great for cheap. I'll pick up the active version to work with my old KVM.

--update 11/24/2018: After reformatting my PC and setting up fresh Windows 10 installation, my computer was consistently crashing and the monitor was turning black with random glitchy colors on it. The culprit seemed to be this adapter, as when I had my TV plugged into the computer, only then was this occurring. After much finagling around, I determined the NVidia driver that was installed by default with the Windows updates was to blame. If you're having trouble with this adapter, before blaming the hardware, make sure to check that your system is running the latest drivers from manufacturer websites, not necessarily what Windows thinks is best. --update 11/06/2018: I reached out to the company to let them know about the issue. There is a chance the product failing may not have been their fault, as power went out and this was not the only device on the hdmi line that stopped working. That said, I reached out to let them know my adapter was no longer working, after ordering another one that worked to confirm it was in fact my adapter that was the problem. They were very quick to refund me for my initial order, and the new adapter is still working. Also, I bought a warranty during the second order from square trade for about 1 dollar for 4-years of coverage. This may be something to consider if anyone looks to buy one of these things and lives in an area where they may be prone to power outages. I used to think having a good surge protector was enough, but it seems this may be an unfair assumption. --original comment: I ordered one of these and it stopped working. I wanted a DP-to-HDMI adapter to use my Dell laptop with TVs, especially in hotels as I travel quite a lot. This one had good reviews and a decent price for what it is - I guess there are not a lot of these adapters sold, so the prices tend to be quite high compared to, say, the HDMI cable that is going to be plugged into it. Anyway, the adapter seems to be well constructed: it latches into the Display Port as it is meant to and doesn't feel like it is going to fall apart any time soon. It works perfectly: every TV I have connected to has been properly detected by the laptop and I was able to get audio and video output to the TV without any problems.

Simple plug and play. It does what is says it does. A simple solution to run multiple monitors. Looks well made and postage was quick.

build quality is good and working fine with my NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB graphic card. Only one thing keep in mind, when connecting additional display monitor on your graphic card, complete system needs to shut down and there should not be any power supply monitor. Once conce connection done, power on your pc.

Ich hatte gedacht ,das ich gestern bei dem Verkäuferfeedback meine Bewertung abgeschickt habe. Da ich mich schon gewundert habe das ich keine Rückmeldung von Amazon erhalten habe. Die 5 Sterne kann ich nur vorerst für den guten Eindruck und Verarbeitung geben, durch meine geistige Behinderung habe ich es nicht bemerkt das es keinen USB Stecker besitzt obwohl ein Warnhinweis in der Abbildung zu sehen war. Das habe ich erst beim Erhalt der Ware beim nachschauen bei meiner Bestellung gesehen. Dieses mit dem DispayPort ich auch nicht für voll genommen habe. Vielleicht werde ich mal ein Gerät mit so einen Port besitzen? So das ich mir gestern 3 Varianten von USB auf HDMI gekauft habe. Und weil der Preis auch sehr klein war zu dem Teil werde ich es auch nicht zurückschicken, das würde mir sehr schwer fallen und Stress bereiten.
