Safe on most metals. Phosphoric acid reacts very aggressively with anything that has calcium which is why its so effective on dissolving hard marine growth. Most metals found in marine mechanical applications are safe but it will react with zinc. **Q: I have a Cumminsallons 583 engine how much of the mussel buster will it take to pickle engine** A: I don't think you would want to pickle your motor with a barnacle removing product because you would want to flush your system after it has broken down the debri inside of it....that acid needs to be flushed out. **Q: I have a Cummins 583 marine engine how many gallons of the muddle buster will it take to pickle engine** A: One gallon of concentrate makes 5 gal and should be plenty if circulated for 3 hrs. Flush after, do not leave it in engine to "pickle" **Q: How much product should it take to run through a 350 hp crusader engine ? Took off the lower unit and dropped an old bilge pump in the bottom of a 5 gal. bucket. Poured in the gallon and ran it statically thru the motor for about a half an hour. The scum in the bottom of the bucket told me that this stuff removed the clogged port. And it did. Motor runs cold to normal even at full throttle.
