After post research between paper vs K&N, I learned a lot. K&N filters are excellent for filtering in dusty environments and allowing good air flow .... as long as they are properly oiled. This is actually why I choose paper, ... keeping it oiled is more maintenance than I prefer and some oil has been proven to be drawn into the intake system and can buildup over time .... causing sensor malfunction/light gritty film. Seems to me this could potentially be a bad thing. Paper filters have been shown to filter/flow almost if not better than these without introducing any oils into the intake. Cleaning is much easier if you choose to blow it out occasionally. So, if racing .... ok, ..... daily driver, ... I'm using good quality paper.

I would not use K & N filter with 2002 Toyota 4 Runner. It damaged the mass airflow sensor. It’s just my experience. It turned out to be very costly for me. It’s only been close to a year since i bought the filter.

I've had K&N air filters in the past on my motorcycles. I've always been happy with them. This was no different. As expected, I didn't notice any significant improvement in power, however, this air filter (in conjunction with a full tune) gave me an additional 1-2 MPG improvement in my 2000 Toyota 4Runner. BE AWARE though, be careful when "recharging" the filter that you do not apply to much oil, as it can fry your often fragile and EXPENSIVE mass air flow sensor. I would recomend this product to a friend.

I really like the idea of reusable filters because in general they seem both eco-friendly and of higher quality than most of the disposable variety. This filter is really well made and with the metal mesh reinforcement I can see why it will last for years. Going this route is not all peaches and cream however, you will have to do some work to keep the filter in tip top shape. You'll need to buy some cleanser and some filter oil. K&N of course recommends their brand and it is cheap enough that I didn't investigate other options. When it would be time for you to replace your filter normally you will need to take this one out and clean it, dry it, oil it and air it out. The entire process can take a long time, especially the drying step, so make sure you have cleared your schedule for the day or at least have a temporary filter to use in the mean time. Overall I have no complaints and I'd buy it again if it were not for the fact that I probably won't ever have to get a replacement.

Installed on my 1998 4runner. I dont have access to a dyno to test out the actual horsepower increase, if any, but the overall driving experience definitely improved. Acceleration became smoother and more natural, closer to modern vehicles. The truck is just easier to drive than before and makes me want to drive it more often. I have another newer Acura car that I also enjoy driving, but once this filter was put it, I could not stop driving the 4runner. Great product that actually work well, and it will make you enjoy driving your car.

I got one of these reusable K&N air filters for my 95 Tacoma. They seem expensive at first, but 3 filter changes and it'll have paid for itself.

Installed this in my 2001 Toyota 4Runner, and it has made a world of difference from a handling standpoint. Off the line, it is quicker and more responsive then before when I had a different air filter, and just cruising down the road at highway speed, I have extra horsepower to pass, especially going up hills. Glad I made the switch!

I have been using these in my 4runners for years. get the cleaning kit it will last a long time. Clean every oil change
