I just received another Yens fanny pack in Navy Blue and it seems well made and solid throughout.
I just received another Yens fannypack in Navy Blue and it seems well made and solid throughout. I have another Yens in same style and color and noticed that the new version is made with a "Denier 600" (or whatever they call it... 300?) type of material and not the polyester type of material. You see the cross hatches of the structure of the material - it is not smooth and flat like the polyester. I actually like the look and texture of the Denier material better.. not that the polyester was particularly unattractive. The old Yens has held up phenomenally well to many mountain biking rides and dog walks on streets , trails, and beach - no inside tears in the lining (which is usually the first to go it seem) from keys or change or hands reaching in etc -whatever the cause! An Everest version I bought many years ago did not last 3 whole years like the Yens did - but again in the Everest it was the lining that fell apart and not the exterior. The Yens that I am replacing has no interior tears and is fully functional but after 3 year just looks really beat up and sun-faded. Can't believe I've had it this long - I had to look at my Amazon purchase history to confirm this. One thing I like about the Denier version by Yens is that it is more rigid and seems to hold its shape a little better than the polyester version. Not that the polyester version was a problem in terms of rigidity - it is not floppy and has held up really well for 3 years. But a little more rigidity is preferred. Another thing I like about the Yens is that there is no outside label. I don't feel like being a walking advertisement for Everest - the label is too obtrusive and unnecessary and takes up a huge amount of space on the front of the fanny pack. Hey I'm a proud fanny pack wearer when I need one and am not in the closet about my fannypack tendencies. All the jokes about fannypacks crack me up - I can think of many other qualities and traits and looks in people that I can make fun that I think are more significant than fanny packs - but somehow fannypacks get a mess of jokes. Hey I can take it! I wear my fannypack loud and proud! But a fannypack with a relatively huge white label on it like Everest makes it stand out even more and not blend in with your other clothing. So if you are at all embarassed about not being cool by wearing a fannypack, you will be "less noticed" with the Yens version versus the Everest! haha

nice compartments snap not as secure
I like the amount of zipper pockets great for organizing. the straps adjust well though I wish it could be bigger for wearing over the shoulder. As a clumsy person, the snap buckle is not as secure as I'd like. I can imgaine snagging it on some thing and it comes unloose.

Absolutely FANNY-tastic!
UPDATE #3: It's now almost 2022 and I purchased this in 2016. Still going strong! Still need to post some new pics to show the wear over time, but if there's one thing this fanny pack has, it's endurance.UPDATE #2: It's been more than two years, and I still use it all the time. Wear has become obvious on the interior; I'll have to upload some pics to demonstrate, but it's nothing that gets in the way of use. Still very happy with it. :)UPDATE: Almost a year later, I'm still using this every day. Still virtually like new. I love this fanny pack. I didn't end up adding patches or spikes, but I may still. Keeping my baton close to the buckle eventually made the buckle break, but it was the piece of the plastic that housed the insertion part of the buckle and I was able to wrap some electrical tape around it and have had no further problems (but have stopped carrying my baton to extend the life of the buckle).ORIGINAL: I've had this fanny pack for a few months now and I adore it just as much now as when I first got it. The clip is as sturdy as expected. I keep my 16" baton (in holster) on the band on the right side, which means it creates extra strain on the clip, unfortunately. (But I'm right handed so it's much easier to remove the baton from that side in case of emergency. I'm considering trying to replace the clip at some point, and I may have to do it eventually if I keep carrying my baton on that side.)The carrying capacity is AWESOME. I can fit so much in there! My friends have called it my "mary poppins bag." Lol. I can fit my Galaxy S5 with its bulky case, an iPod touch, a pack of gum, spare keys, my actual keys on their lanyard, a compact, several pens, and lipstick in the main compartment WITH ROOM TO SPARE. The front pocket is perfect for keeping my cards that I use regularly, and the back pocket (facing waist) is great for added security: good for keeping cash and irregularly-used cards.I'm never going back to carrying purses. This has been such an amazing investment--and it's hardly anything to invest!I'll be adding patches and spikes later on, as the material (canvas-ish?) is totally modifiable. And it's pretty water resistant, too.
