Yakima's website sa the long bed bars are adjustable from 50-84" but Amazon is showing 60-84. Can anyone confirm length of the bars when not extended?

I believe I bought the shorter crossbars. They are 37 1/2” fully closed.

Can locks be added to the sidebars? Appears that they are only secured with hex head bolts to the towers

They are M8 security bolts. If you haven’t seen these before, it’s like a hex nut bolt, but it has a post in the middle that prevents normal tools from removing them. Only tools that are designed to accommodate the post can remove the bolt. It’s not exactly unique to Yakima, but it does help deter common theft.
