I loved this story so much when I was a very young boy, that when the movie came out late-70s, I took my 4 year-old daughter to see it. She loved it, and now I've bought a copy to give to my granddaughter. Watching it again was a delight. For the down-the-chimney-and-into-the-little-girl's-room scene alone, I'd watch the film all over again. The songs are adorable, and the seahorse just may be the first animated "gay" character is movies. Lionel Jeffries ("The Railway Children," "The Amazing Mr. Blunden") is an actor who also managed to direct some lovely children's films that adults can enjoy equally well. Try this one and see for yourself.

I've been waiting for YEARS to finally get my hands on a copy of Water Babies. I used to watch it nonstop when I was a kid, and missed it daily when my only video cassete copy of it got damaged, and they stopped showing it on tv along with a lot of other animated favorites of mine. I'm glad that SOMEBODY finally released it again on DVD, so I can watch it again for old times sake, and show my kids and younger cousins what their generation missed. :DNow if only they'd release classic animated movies like Mouse and Child, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Pinochio and the Emperor of the Night, etc. again....

A+++ Just as I remember from when I was a little kid! I'm so glad these classic's are finally getting out! I'm still looking for "Ringing Bell" about the Lamb raised by the Wolf. But I'm glad I found this one!

this movie was as good as i remembered as a 7 year old boy. I hope that my grandchildren will appreciate it as much as i did when i was 7 although it is a bit dated, it is still up there with other childhood greats as pete's dragon and mary poppins. Overall rating (great movie)pay close attention it is in heavy english.I'd like to see where young thomas ended up after this movie.

I still have an old copy of The Water Babies so it was nice to get the DVD of this old classic

Was a gift

Saw this when I was a kid and it was cool because it took me on a trip down memory lane. But it’s a kids movie. Watching it now I was bored to tears

what can I say.... I watched this when I was like 10 I think and the water babies cartoon section and the jigsaw have always stayed in my head. I bought this despite knowing whether I would like it or not still and played soon as received. played 3 times since and loved every bit of it and I am now 40+ so still has attention power. superb quality really can not say how happy I am after 30 years finding something I had thought lost forever. this goes with my growing collection of media memorabilia I have been collecting over the years. just look at what I have bought

I first saw this when I was little and my brother and myself used to sing this back which used to irritate my Mother to no end, it has one of those classic annoying but hugely catchy songs you can't help sing along too, has classic villains and a child hero who saves the day in many ways after finding himself. Having read the books when I was older I still love this film and will be watching it with my brother soon to re-live those by gone days of childhood

I bought this dvd for my grandchildren as it was a strong favourite of my own children - watched repeatedly on video.A delightful mix of live film and animation not hampered by the splendid cast. It has everything necessary to entertain anddemand repeat viewing.Children will watch this over and over (adults will willingly sit through it, too) the best advert for any film. An afterthought - all the "new" childrens films available - How many do children return to, time and time again.A comparatively unknown classic - awaken mums and dads - not only Disney make such films!!!

This is a really wonderful film and a ' must watch ' for children and adults alike.A wonderful mixture of real-life and animation.Excellent performances by James Mason, Bernard Cribbons, Billie Whitelaw and a great cast.Brilliantly directed by Lionel Jeffries.High Cockalorum !Pure magic . . . .

bought for my niece, with her watching every new film was hard to find something she hadn't seen, so went back in time and presto, the oldies still entertain, the graphics are old and it shows but it's a great kids story and she loved it.
