Update International's Super Steel stock pots are constructed of stainless steel with a heavy duty 3-ply bottom consisting of two layers of stainless steel surrounding a 5 mm thick aluminum core. This results in extra strength and allows for superior heat distribution. All models may be used with induction cookers, making this one of the most versatile lines of stainless steel pots available. Covers are included.

Excellent stock pot.
3rd canning season using this pot and it hasn't let me down. I will definitely buy the same brand when I need another one. Some measurements on the inside would make it perfect.

Great pot. Shipping Box too wimpy.
The pot itself is fantastic. I just finished cooking about 65 quarts of Green Chile sauce in my new 80 quart pot. It worked like a champ.I was surprised it was even delivered in a box, by the time it got to me, it was so shredded, it barely even held together. I'm sure this is why there was a small but deep dent in the pot. The dent doesn't effect cooking though, so whatever. Also, when it arrived, it was a little squished. The opening wasn't a perfect circle, it was slightly oval, not to the eye, but the lid wouldn't fit without squishing it the other direction. I'm assuming this also happened during shipping. Using a very long bar-clamp I have, I was able to re-shape the pot to be a circle once again, the lid fits correctly now. This is a serious pot, they need to use a serious box for shipping, even if it costs the consumer a little more. Thats my 2 cents.

WOW, this is a 20 Qt. commercial pot!
The thick base is amazing at transfering Gas flame heat- only used Med-Low heat to boil and simmer 14 Quarts of liquid soup. This a quality 20 Qt. exactly ( Measured It) commercial grade pot, no questions asked. It is quality stainless steel, food grade listed. Its heavy duty at 9 Lbs. 6.8 oz. (pot and top) This is not your cheap homeowners junk, this could last you a lifetime in your home. There is a very thick base to transfer heat. Love the tack weld handles, clean interior. Never put Stainless Steel away wet, and the instructions tell you that. I can't believe I got this for $45.99. Some suppliers wanted $69 to $100 for this pot. The true interior is 11.75 wide and 10.25 high. This pot will handle my soups, sauce, gravy and shellfish. Now that I know the interior dimensions, I can look for a basket strainer. I purchased the 20 qt. instead of the 16 qt. due to the great price. There is not much size difference between the two. This is a GREAT DEAL!!!!! After using this pot a few times, I must say that it is very efficient at conducting the gas flame and requires much less heat to boil and simmer than any aluminum pot.As for cleaning and spots on the stainless steel interior-That's what they make those scouring pads and steel wool for-put some muscle into it.

a very good purchase
I bought this item for the sole purpose of home cheese making. I use it on electric cooker which I find more difficult to adjust compared to gas based ones. This pot has stood very well against over a year of frequent use.Its thick base helps even heat distribution and so far I have not experienced any burnt milk. I sometimes need to heat the whey for 45 minutes at the highest heat to achieve 200 F (for ricotta making) and even at that setting, I have seen nothing getting brown or nastily sticking to the bottom. As a part of cheese making I constantly monitor the temperature of the contents and I have not seen much difference between the bottom and the top (mixing or not mixing only makes 1F difference) which is another indication of even heat distribution.Capacity wise: For sure it is not 20 quarts. I have comfortably worked with up to 18 quarts (without the lid) and up to 16 quarts with the lid on (at 18 quarts lid touches to the milk, which in my opinion is a design flaw.). But for me it is enough and I was sort of expecting this capacity issue based on reviews so I can not complain about it.For cleaning, I use hand washing due to the massive size and it is not very easy but it is a price you have to pay for this size.I can also ensure you about the quality of steel. It does not get oxidized or go gray in time; and as long as you close the lid properly, it is not an insulated pot but it can retain the interior heat for sometime (it also depends on what you have in and its specific heat value plus the mass as well as the temperature difference between outside and inside) For example: 16 quarts of milk that has been heated up to 93F can retain the inner temperature over 85 for a couple of hours. For the price and quality, I think it was a good purchase and I recommend this item to anyone who is particularly interested in home cheese making.

Chef quality stockpot!
This stockpot is the best I have ever had. We’ve gotten rid of others that are too thin. It is a professional chef’s quality - a heavier stainless gauge than many others, food does not stick, perfect size for a large batch of chili or lobster. Washes beautifully. I use coarse kosher salt to clean.

Loved this pot last year. We'll see about this new one.
I received one of these last year and liked it so much I bought another one for myself. There are some differences in the one I got recently that I'm not happy with. The welds for the handles on the lid and the pot have made bumps that protrude slightly and are visibly darker. The one from last year has bumps as well but they are almost imperceptible. The rims around the pot handles have some smudge that seems to wipe off (with a bit more than average effort) and there is an actual 1/4" metal shaving protruding from behind one. The pot seemed lighter so I weighed it. My first pot is 5452 grams and the new one is 4702 grams. So, that is a 13.75% decrease of material. I measured the wall thickness as well. My first pot was .98 mm and the new one is .9 mm. That would explain 8.1% of the difference, but the handles are slightly larger on the new one (which I like better). The rest of the weight comes from the place where I really don't want it to come from...the bottom. It went from 11.1125 mm to 9.525 mm, for a decrease of 14.28%, although it does appear to be 4.76 mm (3/16") wider.I like the first pot so much that I'm willing to give this one 4 stars still (last year's model is a solid 5). After a good cleaning (and a bit of sanding for that metal shaving) it should be okay. The versatility of a pot like this is fantastic. I just don't like the idea that it is a little bit less robust than before, and I'm definitely not a fan of the thinner bottom, but I'm hoping it doesn't make much of a difference in how it heats up as far as soup. I'll revise this review if it does.

It suits me fine!
I bought the 16-quart pot when it was priced at CDN $74.49 and I think that was a perfectly fair price for it. Currently, it is priced at more than double that price! There is no way I would pay more than $100.00 Canadian for it. The quality simply isn't there. After I used it once, the bottom inside became mottled and did not clean up the way my other pots of much superior quality always do. Have used it a few times now and it annoys me that no matter how hard I try, I can't get the markings inside to go away. It doesn't affect the performance in the least, but I like things to look good ... and it doesn't.If the price comes back down, I would recommend it. If it doesn't ... then I would say keep shopping. There is better quality out there for the price they are now asking.P.S. Be sure to clean it with soapy water several times before use. There was lots of factory oil on the inside.

Everyone needs a BIG POT!
We were looking to replace our stock pots bc induction. sigh Had to replace all our cookware *rolls eyes*.So a new big pot was neededand this one is perfect. It's heavier that the cheapy one's, and yes you get what you pay for. They even feel like higher quality stock pots. Well worth it when you plan on having it for a few decades. And I believe this one will stand the test of time.We usually have a large and a small (16 and 32 quarts). The one thing that irked a bit was the sticker price. I know I am a bit of a hypocrite here, but I did see this one later at a couple other sites, and they were less than this one (by $30-35)!I do wholeheartedly give my recommendation to this pot though. It cooks beautifully.

A solid buy
This is a well made solid pot and it works well on my induction hob. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because it arrived with a minor dent in the bottom which of course has no effect on the performance so I let it go (didn't seem to have happened in shipping as the pot was well packaged). If I had a line of shining pots in an immaculate kitchen to show what a thoroughly professional chef I am then I'd have to make sure this pot got displayed dent side in - a person as meticulous as that would surely have returned the pot.
