I bought two of these at different times, here's why.I have a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5l, and yes with the notorious 09G 6 speed transmission. After a few month of bad gear changing (slips and bangs) and researching the issue, it was clear that a transmission problem had started to occur.(see this thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5488563-My-experience-with-the-09G-Transmission/page1)My first step was to drop the pan and see if draining the Transmission fluid that comes out (@3.5 quarts) and changing the filter while inspecting for damage would be worth the effort, before replacing the valve body. I purchases this item to do just that. I drove from December through until this weekend, with no issues (problem wasn't fixed and was getting worse though). So I bought a VB from Reaman and use this kit once again (never reuse gaskets or filters) and did the whole thing again while replacing the VB too.The shifting issues are gone, still driving through learning mode but it changes gear 10 times smoother than previously.Will i recommend this? yes, i've no reason at this time to think this item would cause any issues.

Significantly cheaper than OEM with nearly the same quality. I ended up buying two of these, because I had a leak after the first one but it turned out to be an issue with my pan, but the second one did the after I changed out the pan! The gasket does exactly what it is supposed to do and fit perfectly. The only complaint I would have is that there are a few tabs that fit onto the edge of the pan lip that didn’t fit perfectly in one or two places, however with some careful placement I was able to get things to line up. Excellent value for money especially since it is hard to get just a gasket for a price this low.

Fitment was identical to OEM gasket, no fuss at all during install process.Also, if you want a fluid recommendation, after experimenting with Valvoline Maxlife, and Castrol Transmax, I ultimately landed on buying the Asian OEM Type-IV ATF from Rockauto, its $5/quart with $10 for shipping, basically the same price as the universal but its the same factory fill fluid that is used by Volkswagen and will make your 09G shift like butter

I bought this for a 2010 VW Golf 2.5L 5 cylinder, amazon said it was the right part for my car, it is not. I seems to be a decent quality part, if it fits your car. See attached pic, there are different versions of this filter. On the left (VW PN 09G325429) you can see the pickup is flush cut and about 1/2" inch higher than VW PN 09G325429A or B which is a bit thicker and has a flared pickup opening. Other than that they are identical so it might fit and work okay but VW extended the pickup for a reason, perhaps to prevent oil slosh starvation when going around corners?When I dropped my pan I discovered it had the A version with the extended/flared pickup. The B version is similar to A but slightly smaller flared opening. VW says A or B will fit with my car (most likely a supplier change). Unfortunately I was past the 30 day return window (and in the middle of the job), so had to buy the correct filter at my local Autozone ($30).I bought this one because another review claimed this was the right part for a 2010 VW Golf 2.5L and that is incorrect. You can install it and it will fit, but the pickup will be a lot higher and could cause issues, it is not the right part for any VW Golf.
