These were almost too small to really do anything with. The gap between the open areas is too small in all of them to slow for ashes or sand to pass through..WARNING!! GRAPHIC REALITY ABOUT CREMATED REMAINS AHEAD! IF YOUR DAY COULD BE RUINED AFTER READING A FEW DETAILS ABOUT OUR CREMATED LOVED ONES THEN DON’T READ ANY FURTHER!!!If you are using cremated remains, I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but you’ll have to pick out the bone chunks before filling these with ashes… both of my parents were cremated, so I know from first hand experience what human “ashes” look like and the (often times) disturbing reality that they aren’t perfectly dusty sand bags in urns… if you have an old coffee grinder you want to throw away I’d sincerely suggest putting the ashes in their or just scooping the smallest, finest ashes you can find to put in there… however, if I were you I would honestly pay the extra money for a larger hourglass pendant and save these little dinky things for some inexpensive glow in the dark pigment or sand…
