I ended up purchasing both and I suggest that you do the same. This book is an excellent introduction to the broad scope of topics and is well organized, with lots of practical ideas. It includes concept checking reviews (like those you will use with your students?) and an interesting and useful DVD component. However, if you prefer a more thorough, in-depth view, you will prever "The Practice of English Language Teaching" or the comparable text by Jim Scrivener, "Learning Teaching." I myself am working my way through this book ("How to Teach English") and looking forward to proceeding to the other two.
