It was easy to screw these clamps onto cauls that I already had. After figuring out how far apart to set them, disturb them as little as possible, keeping the cauls separated by inserting that are thicker than the panel boards. A panel of just a couple of boards can be inserted at once, but larger panels one or two at a time. When ready to tighten, be sure plastic strips at each edge are in correct alignment with the board. If the boards are thinner that the metal strip to which the plastic strips attach (less than 0.640"), plywood strips or a shorter set of cauls should be placed on each side of the panel.Once I figured out how to deal with the floppiness in the initial stages, they worked just fine, and it was nice to have the convenience of the simultaneous flattening and drawing together pressures.

This is my second set from a different seller. Good product but a bit clumsy to use. The instructions are lacking a bit, but once you get it down they do a great job keeping pieces flat and secure. In hind sight, for my use, a simple homemade glueing jig may have been better but this is a great and inexpensive tool to have in the shop.

I used this clamp when I glued up a table top and the clamp work nicely. The only problem I had was I had a short glue open time and getting this clamping system properly arranged and clamped took longer than I was hoping for. The table top come out nice and flat.

Used steel square tubing. Replaced the plastic pressure pads with solid square steel. So far so good.
