Web Developer is VERY pleased

Hey there, I am a 29 year old Web Developer and computer gamer (as well as some guitar, which is hard on the wrists as well). It is not out of the norm for me to spend 12-14 hours a day at the computer. Sure, I'll take breaks and do sit-ups, push-ups, yoga, whatever, just to get my blood moving. I also had a little wrist-raising bean bag that sits behind my $85 ergonomic Logitech Performance MX Mouse (I purchased them trying to get rid of the discomfort). Regardless of what I was doing, I was still developing quite a bit of stiffness on the right side of my right hand and wrist. My WASD fingers are also stiffening up to an unmanageable capacity. After searching RSI on Amazon, these gloves popped up. After a one week of continuous use, I am happy to say that any and all discomfort I was developing has been eradicated. However, the gloves were not the only purchase I made. I also bought a medium tension Gripmaster Hand Exerciser (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006GC5D8/). I have also discovered an excellent stretching exercise which I will share below. If you work on a computer every day, we subject ourselves to a ton of repetitive motions. Although we sit on our butts for a majority of the day, there is no reason we should not treat our job like an athletes (seriously). I now have a regimen I practice daily to keep my hands and wrists in tip-top shape.First I start with a the stretch.1. Sit in your office chair, and raise your arms straight in front of you, and keep them there.2. Raise your hands into a 'stop' position. Bring them up as high as you can until you feel them stretching, but not in pain, and hold for 5 seconds.3. Bring your hands down and make a fist, hold for five seconds.4. While keeping your hands in a fist, stretch your hands downwards, so you can see your knuckles from under your forearm. Hold for five seconds.5. Bring your hands up, relax everything, hold for 5 seconds.6. Repeat the whole process up to 10 times, or whatever is comfortable.I then use my Gripmaster Hand Exerciser, usually doing about 50 "squeezes".I then put on my super-comfy Imak Computer Gloves, and jump into work.I have stuck to this routine for just over a week, and have not had one encounter of stiffness or discomfort since I started. I also FEEL the circulation and fluidity back in my forearms which I hadn't realized I had lost! Prior to this regimen, I was worried about being able to perform my Job and Game in my free time for the foreseeable future!Sure, the Imak gloves are not super breathable, and will probably require some regular cleaning depending on how clean of a person you are, but I am very happy with the purchase. I would very much so recommend them to a friend. I showed them to the Designer at my job, and he picked up a pair as well since he was very impressed with the feel, and quality. The built-in mini bean bags under the wrists/palms make such a huge difference. These little guys were a God-send, and possibly career saving.Thank you!

Great product

I own several different wrist protection type products as I work on the computer at least 8 hours a day. The options I've tried are: stiff wrist braces from the pharmacy, compression style sleeves, and this product. I find this product to be the most comfortable and versatile of all of them. The pharmacy wrist braces are way too stiff and don't allow a sufficient range of motion for my tastes. The compression sleeves are uncomfortable and don't feel like they help that much. These are just right, the beads on the bottom provide a lot of soothing for wrist discomfort and make all the typing and mousing much more manageable. Would highly recommend buying a pair of these if you do a lot of computer work or anything that stresses your wrists really. The reversible nature of them is a nice bonus, I imagine at some point the cloth will begin to wear out on the bottoms, and my plan is to simply reverse them and wear on the opposite hands to double their lifespan once the time comes.

Career-saving pain relief

I depend on these gloves. I keep a pair at home and a pair at work. These gloves save me a lot of pain. Without them, I wouldn't be able to use a computer for more than about an hour a day because my right (mouse) wrist and hand would hurt so badly. And then I couldn't do my job. (My left hand would last longer but eventually it would hurt too much also.)So what I'm saying is that for the pain I experience when working at a computer, these gloves are a miracle. I absolutely need them. I don't know if there's a name for my pain; I don't think it's carpal tunnel though. Basically my wrists and the back of my hands ache. I guess that's what 15 years of computer programming gets you.A few notes:- Construction is good. Of course they do wear out over time. My mouse-hand glove lasts about 6 months before I've worn a good sized hole through the first layer of fabric. At that point the little bean-bag inside tends to come out (though it remains attached by stitching on one end). The left hand lasts much longer since it doesn't experience the friction mousing makes.- When my right glove wears through as described above, I simply turn them both inside-out and switch hands. The right glove, now with hole on the inside, continues to function perfectly for the left hand. That gives me another 6 months. Once I've worn through both, I buy a new set.- Like my favourite jeans, I wash them every couple of months. (Now you know I'm male). I just put them through a cold delicate wash with my clothes and then air-dry them over the weekend. I've never had a problem with them getting smelly. If your hands sweat a lot in them you might need to wash them more often.I didn't give them 5 stars because:- They do become uncomfortable sometimes. The heel of my mouse-hand gets fatigued from resting on the bean-bag.- The part that wraps around my thumb sometimes irritates the skin between my thumb and index finger, causing it to hurt.- I'm sure they used to come in two sizes, but now they're "one size".- They do make the heels of my hands sweat a bit, which can become uncomfortable in warm weather. If you experience wrist/hand pain when typing or especially when using a mouse, give this glove a try.
