cheap and works!
OK, before I go on about this product, just know that it stinks. ALL coal tar shampoos stink and coal tar soaps too. If it works, who cares if it stinks. If you are going to rate this poorly because of the scent, maybe you should just not get it and stay with the flakes and itching. This is cheap and it worked for my son extremely well after just the first use. I have used it as well and have not had the flakes return. I have suffered from this for 40 years now. I do notice that when I eat sweets or lots of carbs, there is MUCH more flaking for me. I had to stop sugar and carbs completely, take some MSM (sulfur) and Pau d’Arco (2 of each for a month, so 4 pills daily) BUT, I have suffered from this for decades. For me, the combination of internal supplements and this shampoo is a winner. My son only needed this shampoo. The only other shampoo that worked for me is one containing selenium sulfide. Your body may get used to any shampoo you start using and it may appear less effective over time so you may at some point have to switch shampoos but I would also consider adjusting your diet if that should happen. Usually, I have problems with shampoos being too harsh/drying which causes my body to go overboard on producing oils to compensate..... and then making my hair greasy by the same evening or next morning. This has not caused that reaction for me. I did, for the first time using this, wash my hair and use the shampoo and then put a shower cap on and let it sit on my head for an hour or so while I did whatever....then I rinsed it and took a shower. Always rinse your scalp in cool water. If the flaking comes back for me, I can guarantee you it will be because of a tastycake binge.....

Works
I'm someone who's been on Head&Shoulders forever. I found that lately the regular stuff wasn't working. Sometimes those of us with serious dandruff have to switch our treatment temporarily, because our scalp has become acclimated. This coal tar shampoo helped. How it works: Coal tar naturally causes the treated skin to slough off less skin cells, reducing dandruff. Why it's uncommon: Coal tar is very fragrant, having a medicine and bitter smell. It also severely irritates mucous membranes, so you have to worry even more than normal about keeping it out of your eyes. It can also stain light-colored hair or fabric, so it's usually reserved for people with darker hair. Is that enough of a warning for you? In short - not for blondes except as necessary, and take extra care to keep it out of your eyes. Did I mention ingesting it can make you vomit? Avoid contact with the mouth entirely - and from personal experience, that means guys with facial hair have to wash their beard extra to prevent traces from sticking around. How to use it: It's best to apply once like normal shampoo, to clean your hair and scalp, then again. Lather deeply into the scalp, and leave it for 5 minutes. Rinse around the face thoroughly or wipe off with a towel to ensure your eyes are safe. You may want to use this time to do the rest of your shower. After the 5 minutes, rinse thoroughly. Did it work? Absolutely. My dandruff isn't cured, but each treatment made so much of a difference that my scalp was notably more itchy every time treatment day rolled around. After using the full bottle, my dandruff is back to where it should normally be. Not perfect, but better. Resuming my normal Head&Shoulders treatment should be just as effective as ever following this break. For me, short of going to a dermatologist and maybe going on a prescription, that's as good as it gets.

REALLY works but…
I usually don’t write any reviews but this one I have things to say about. So, the product really works, I’m more than half way done with this shampoo and I could see a huge difference on my first use which I was pretty surprised for the value! It has a very thick consistency which I actually like it. The bad part of it is the smell, the smell is strong and kind of awful. Also, it’s making my hair super oily, I was used to wash my hair 2 or 3 times a week even though it wasn’t looking dirty or oily and after I started using this shampoo I have to wash every other day because feels so oily and looking dirty. Overall it solved my problem with the dandruff and I’m happy with it. I’d recommend!

A little goes a long way!
It hasn't gotten rid of my dandruff complete but definitely helps the irratation and flakes. Smells like medical supplies + mens cologne in my opinion but the smell doesnt stay if you wash it out and use a fragranced conditioner. I use it once a week along with deep conditioner. Make sure to hit the worst spots first and leave it in for 5 ish mins before washing it out. Its super thick and lathers like crazy. It strips my hair of its natual oils but in the best way possible to get rid of the oily gunk. I part my hair in 1/10ths before to reach the scalp better. After i use those $1 conditioner packs on my hair and it gets the softness back. Would recommend 100%!! Remember everyones hair is different so it might work better or worse for you.

Relief from sebborhetic scalp psoriasis.
I’ve been using Neutrogena coal tar for close to two decades due to having sebborhetic scalp psoriasis. i decided to give Amazon products a try. I must say I will be purchasing this from now on. The formula made of 5% coal tar where as the name brand original is 2% and 3-4% for extra strength. I like that for the price of Solimo Brand( Amazon) I didn’t have to sacrifice quantity or most importantly quality. I was able to receive more quantity and better quality ingredients for a better price.
