Great Recipes!
There are many really good recipes in this book, and two outstanding ones we have used are the bran muffins and the oven-fried chicken.

Delish doesn't even come close! Amazing! Is more like it!
While I've read & enjoyed all of Philip R Craig's books; I've usually tried at least one or two recipes included with each book. And always had good luck. This cook book is amazing! Unlike so many other "celebrity" cookbooks, these are recipes that have actually been used and 'tweaked' and I have yet to get a bad result. The little asides are spot-on. If you love to cook, and enjoy a bit of history with each recipe, you have to buy this book. If you only make one of his recipes, cook up his spaghetti sauce. You can still get the "Bean Supreme" from Dona Flora. I just ordered some & it makes all the difference in the recipe. And the recipe for "Aunt Elsies Pie Crust" is fool-proof! I have been cooking for over 60 years & I found this cookbook to be a revelation!PS: My only problem is: I live in the Pacific Northwest. Do we have a fish that is similar to Bluefish?

Delish! Good food and good reading, too.
If your mouth waters when reading Philip R. Craig's Vineyard mysteries, this cookbook is a must! I was delighted to discover it after enjoying Craig's mysteries for several years. But alas, it was not in time to prevent the soy sauce stains in my copy of Death on a Vineyard Beach which resulted from consulting it repeatedly to make Jackson's delicious pork sate. There are some wonderful recipes in here, but even if you're not in the mood for cooking, the margin notes make fun reading, and will probably make you want to revisit the mysteries again. If you catch bluefish or dig clams and want to know how to prepare them, there are lots of good ideas here as well.

A wonderful way to remember Philip R Craig
This book has combined all the recipes from Philip R Craig's books into one wonderful cookbook. I had forgotten about some of the recipes and this cookbook brings them altogether. The side comments with each recipe are helpful as well as amusing. The recipes are excellent. In particular, the Oriental Cole Slaw, Baked Shrimp with Sherry and Garlic and the Sesame Snow Peas. There is a good variety of easy, quick prepare/cook recipes and more complicated recipes. This is not a cookbook with just seafood recipes. It has a variety of salads, seafood, beef and chicken recipes which adults and children will enjoy. For those who have a vegetable garden, there are many recipes in which you can use your homegrown wares. I thoroughly enjoy reading through this book as though it were a novel.

Packed with easy and delicious recipes
Looked in bookstores on MV without success so came home and ordered it on line. Craig's kinda a hero there and apparently the stores sold out quickly when he died. It's packed with easy and great sounding recipes, many that have been described in his books. The only negative...we loved his books and it made my wife and I sad to see his picture and read his intro, knowing that he is gone.

I purchased it as a gift for my husband and he has enjoyed fixing a number of the things so far
Reading this cookbook reminds me of the Martha's Vineyard mysteries. The recipes are interesting and are generally the kinds of things real, everyday cooks might cook. I purchased it as a gift for my husband and he has enjoyed fixing a number of the things so far.

VERY CLEVER BOOK
To weave the recipies around the writings of Phillip R. Craig was very entertaining. I love to read this sort of book because it makes the characters come to life. And the recipies look very tempting also - good enough to eat...LOL

Delish....and delightful
A wonderful collection of relatively simple recipes...some from Phil Craig's series of mystery stories set in Martha's Vineyard where he lived for many years until his recent death. If you don't know the Vineyard his stories and revipes will make it feel like home.

Martha's Vineyard Cookbook!
Somehow I don't think that this is REALLY a Martha's Vineyard cookbook but if you are a fan of the J.W. Jackson series, you will enjoy this book. It's a bit processed for me. I prefer to cook with natural ingredients where this book works in a lot of packaged spices (garlic powder vs garlic cloves for example) but some of the recipes are quite tasty.
