Review: Incredible product, it not only saved my tree from dying but it also saved my boyfriend's life. - So, for some stupid reason my boyfriend, who is a boat mechanic, one day decided he was going to pretend he was also an arborist. With this wealth of knowledge he had some how aquired during his day of playing pretend tree doctor he decided our pear tree needed to be pruned. Well, come to find out he didn't know a damn thing about tree pruning. Guess he didn't pay as much attention as he should've during pretend tree doctor school. I was unaware of his tree chopping intentions until after he had already carried out his back alley, chop shop surgery on our precious little tree. Upon walking out the front door it became very obvious, very quickly. First I saw the large, amputated limb, callously tossed on the ground. After the confusion cleared (at first I couldn't believe that this incredibly intelligent man that I've known for almost a decade had done something do f'ing stupid) I looked up at the tree to see her drooping sadly, entire top half of her missing, on her way to giving up on life after an uneducated monster had committed a horrible atrocity upon her. With tears in my eyes I hugged our tree and promised her I'd make her better and that I'd get the man who had done this to her. With the promise I had just made being the only thing on my mind I wanted to exact my revenge right away. But, thankfully I realized I wouldn't be able to help our tree if I was behind bars so I decided to see if there was a less violent way to solve this problem. I called a local nursery and spoke with someone who actually knew something about trees. He informed me that it was the absolute worst weather for a tree to be pruned in and that after chopping the whole top of her off she was basically "bleeding to death". At that point I was ready to hang up and move forward with my original plan. But, before I could, the nice man on the phone said that all hope was not lost. He told me about this product, which works like a bandage on a wound. So, immediately after hanging up I got on desertcart and thankfully found this miracle product. It arrived the next day and I immediately sealed her horrific wounds. After a couple day she started looking a bit better but there was something else I needed to see before I would consider her healed. It took many long, agonizing, prayer filled weeks but just a few days ago I finally saw the beautiful sign of health I waited so long to see... Little baby pears!!! We were told she had to have a mate (another pear tree) next to her in order for her to grow pears. We didn't want to risk moving her and there is no room to plant another tree next to her. So, we had given up hope until last year when she finally grew a few etible pears. After talking to a few knowledgeable people and doing some research, we learned that the next year (the one we're currently in) she would most likely produce a lot of pears. We have been patiently waiting since last year and when we thought she would end up dying before finally got a chance to produce a tree full of pears we were crushed. So, as I'm sure I've already made clear, we're very relieved that this story has a happy ending. And, if you're in need of something to heal your wounded tree, buy this stuff... It works!

**Q: Does anybody know what the ingredients are in this? Thank you!**
A: Hi Joan, I have been using this product for many years mostly as a sealing compound for the end procedure in fruit tree grafting. Clark's Treekote website for their MSDS info is:http://www.waltereclark.com/safety_data_sheets.htmand then click on Treekote MSDS and it will give you about 5 pages with all the info from ingredients to health and safety issues. The five ingredients listed are asphalt, water, hydrous aluminum silicates, menthol and acetic acid. Hope this is what you were looking for, Gordon

**Q: After applying to the wound should I put a cloth over it? I read online that you should. Like a bandaid over neosporin**
A: No cloth needed! As long as the entire wound area is covered it will be protected from disease and blight. Thank you for using Treekote!

**Q: What color is the clarks 00016 treekote brushtop container, 16-ounce?**
A: The container is white, but the treekote paste is black.

**Q: Will this work to seal the end of a piece of orchid stem to propagate?**
A: Yes, this will work for a propagation sealant. We recommend the 8oz brushtop container unless you’re doing a lot. Our Treekote Grafting wax would also be a good sealant for propagation.

Great stuff - would do well to indicate thinning solvent. Applicator brush on screw top - very problematic - expect to need other brushes… Actual tar itself material thick and separated from solvent but worked OK patching sapsucker peck holes…
