JVC HAFX1X Headphone Xtreme-Xplosivs, Black, Red

First of all I'd like to say that I'm not an audio expert by any means, I just love music and have owned lots of headphones. I ordered this product a few weeks ago, it was delivered in less than 5 days as expected. I was very exited to try them out as most of the reviews here are quite good. The first thing I saw as I opened the USPS box was the good locking package. It is almost impossible to open, this is probably my only complain about this product, but after about 10 minutes fighting against it I was able to get to the headphones, which were inside a very nicely designed carrying case (I didn't expected this, and it's actually a very useful addition). Moving on to the headphones - in one word they look AMAZING. They have a premium feel that I wasn't expecting for the price I paid, they look expensive... The build quality is very good, the housings are made of high quality plastic, they have a little "XX" logo and the (L)eft or (R)ight indicator. Although they are quite big, they are lightweight and don't fall of easily if you use the right tips (They included 3 different sizes) plus they are very comfortable, I can use them for long periods of time without trouble and I sometimes forget that I still have them on. The cord and the plug also feel well-made and I don't feel like they will break easily. The sound quality is great too, but as I mentioned before I'M NOT AN EXPERT IN SOUND, but I have used a lot of headphones in the past so I know how to tell if they sound good or not. After using them for about 25 hours I have to say that I'm quite impressed with the sound delivered by this under 20 dollar headphones. The bass is a bit heavy but I love the effect it gives to my music, it doesn't affect the treble and the mids at all. I fell like they were 50-60 bucks because that is the kind of sound they deliver. Overall I'm very pleased with this product, I would recommend it to anyone looking for an good pair of headphones for under 20 dollars. Both the build quality and the sound are amazing, so if you were doubting between this and any other product of the same price range just get this. You won't be disappointed at all!! First of all i would like to state that these headphones are in fact BASS approved. I have never and I mean never felt the middle of my head vibrate from swedish house mafia's "One" the way I did when i listened to it for the first time on these headphones after a good and accurate 20 hour burn. im making a comparsion between other earbuds, over ears, on ears and full blown sound systems to show how good these really are. JVC is underrated to say the least. EDIT: i originally felt that i had to settle with the lack of highs and mids I WAS TERRIBLY WRONG. I recently put my XX through software test, testing them through different Apps and Sound Software with the highest grade in music files. THE CHANGE IN SOUND WHEN THE HEADPHONES ARE PROPERLY REPRODUCING SOUND IS AMAZING. On the average mp3 file sounds may sound like they lack alot of "something" THAT SOMETHING IS A GOOD SOUND FILE. LISTEN TO THESE ON THE BEST POSSIBLE SOUND FILE PREFERABLY A CD OR BETTER AND THEY WILL BE THE BESTHEADPHONES EVER. my current review stands unchanged because i feel they are incredible i just wanted to change the fact that incredible is an understatement they are way better than that. To make my expierence clear i am a proud owner of Klipsch, Sennheiser, Bose, Sony, Logitech UE, MEE and lastly Beats and Monsters. Everywhere from S4 to Turbines. These are perhaps the best sounding Headphones (earbuds) i have ever owned for under $30. They are infact marketed for Bass lovers and if you are not one do not buy them why simply becuase it requires to much of a burn to recieve the real quality of mids highs and lows most people expect out the box. I have given them a proper burn of about 15-20 hours and have noticed a significant shift from overwhelming "noise" and bass drowning out any signs of vocals. Out of the box- i listened to the on a Sansa Clip Plus vs an Ipad and Ipod personally i prefer my Sansa. My sansa is infact paired with a Fiio Headphone amp which really gives these XX a kick. However i felt mids lacking to say the least almost struggling to hear them highs pinching my eardrum almost painfully and lows dying out to easily at high volumes which should never be done its pratically that make a break test for me. At a low level volume the mids were fine highs were enjoyable and lows duable and the bass really did kick at low which is impressive. 5 hours burn- i gave it my personal test. Rock classics from Bon Jovi, Deff Leppard, Raps best from 2-pac "Calfornia Love", Techno's best and all around songs that i consider really challenge the quality of sound replication songs that you love and would hate to hear lose your interest. The XX barely passed to be quite frank putting bass at a terrific output but lacking in the strums and yells and words i so much loved that would just get drowned in bass which is disappointing. they did open up within the next few hours and did significantly better and made me optimistic. 10 hours- all i can say is i gave up something happened maybe i fried them and they just are terrible the bass was gone all i liked about the them was gone the bass. all i could hear was "noise". i sat down and said to myself those few 1 star rating were right what did i just buy. i thought about it and realized the same happened to my Beats solo HD (terrible headphones for the price i recommend ATH-M50s) solo have some troubles where they just die for some reason i have a little blow and suction technique i use to make the drivers bounce alot in hopes to correct the loss of sound. THE VERDICT- the blowing and suction of the driver made them sound beautiful no i dont recommend the technique you can just break them but the 5 star reatings are not at all wrong when i made the drivers bounce i woke up the beast hidden in my XX i was absolutely amazed all those complaining of a them being weak no bass and muffle and sizzle and whatever are wrong and i almost belived it myself. THESE EARBUDS GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS. as i said in the start of this i have never felt the Bass to any song in the middle of my forehead sure there is not the crispness you look for when you buy top grade clarity purposed earbuds. these replicate all sounds well more than well they give all earbuds a run for their money when it comes to clarity. In terms of Bass holy everything good about most my forehead shook my forehead the middle of my head felt the movement of the music if that doesnt say bass head approve i dont know what will. THESE HEADPHONES BUMP BASS THE RIGHT WAY THEY SHAKE YOUR SOUL AND EARS BUT WILL NOT HURT IT.. BTW THEY ALSO ARE WAY TOO LOUD WHICH IS ALWAYS A PLUS.

I received these JVC HAFX1X earbuds yesterday and am listening to them as I type. I will start by saying that they are exactly what I was looking for (an inexpensive set of earbuds that had good bass response and overall decent sound for everyday, bang-around use). I listen to all kinds of music, but really enjoy listening to a song with a great bass line and feeling the kick drum. I should start by saying that the first set of quality earbuds I bought were the Klipsch Image s4's. The Klipsch are the best that I can afford at around $65.00. (I am open to other suggestions on price and sound quality). The Klipsch have absolutely fabulous sound and are my first choice for listening to all music... but they lacked the punch of the bass on some songs. Thus began my quest to find a set of buds for less than $40.00 (my wife's limit, LOL) that had good bass as well as midrange and treble. I picked up a set of Skullcandy FMJs from Radio Shack that had been returned without any of the original packaging for around $40.00 and they are great...good bass response and the high end is very clear but they lack (just a hair) in the mid range. I then got a great deal on a pair of the Skullcandy 50/50s for $30.00 and they are presently still my favorite as far as overall sound (great bass, mid, and high end) and were my first choice when walking out the door for the work day. Don't laugh at Skullcandy owners without having listened to them. However, the Klipsch are too expensive for everyday use and the 50/50s and FMJs have very thin wires. I was concerned that they may not withstand the wear of everyday use (although months later they still have not failed me). So I bought a set of JVC HAFX20B's with Nanotube divers which, according to the advertising on the package, were supposed to have great bass. They were the worst ear buds I have ever heard. No Bass, No Midrange, and the Treble was shrill and intolerable. Don'y try to "burn them in". It doesn't work. Headache City. I returned these very quickly. I read the reviews on Amazon about the Xtreme Xplosives but was reluctant to purchase them after my bad luck with the previous JVC product that I bought. But, with hundreds of other people saying they sounded good, I decided to give them a try. I must truthfully say that I have not been disappointed with my purchase. For $19.00 they are a great set of buds. They have all the bass you could ever want. They have plenty of midrange but lack a tiny bit in the high end (cymbals, tambourines, triangles, etc.). But the 2006 vintage i-pod classic that I have has preset EQ (equalizer) settings plus a Bass, Vocal and Treble boost (not much more than that). I use the "ROCK" preset on the i-pod when listening to these earbuds because it enhances the bass and the treble at the same time. It's a great combination. Remember that the sound you hear is only as good as the original recording. A poor recording is going to sound like crap regardless of the earbuds. I listen to alot of '60s and '70s music. The quality of the recordings made then are nothing compared to the quality of today's recordings. So I keep that in mind when listening to any music. With a good, clean original recording the FAX1X's have killer sound. The bass is full and booming, but not overwhelming. The mid-range is very full, and if you have an EQ on your listening device, you can easily compensate for the small lack in treble response. They have the heaviest wires I have ever seen on any set of earbuds, and the earbuds seem to be well built. I don't know how long they will last but, if I lose these or they are damaged, I'll get another set for $19.00. I will probably get another set soon and just put them away in the "sock drawer" for when and if these fail. CONS: These are, however, very large earbuds. DO NOT try to force these buds deep into the ear canal. Just gently "nestle" them in the the outer opening of the ear. Find the ear bud tip that fits the outer part of the ear snuggly and just let them "sit" in your ear. These buds need the room from the outer ear opening to the ear drum to move the air properly to get that clear, deep thumping bass. The medium tip works best for me. It gives me a good fit without falling out while shaking my head. Persons with small ears or small ear canals may not like the way they fit their ears. Other than finding the proper fit, I would recommend these buds to anyone for everyday use. For the price, you can't beat these earbuds.

The JVC HAFX1X Headphone Xtreme-Xplosivs are decent quality headphones that don't hurt your wallet or your ears...yeah. As soon as I unwrapped the human-proof packaging, I instantly played Radiohead's "Reckoner" which is a perfect song to listen to because of it's duality of different sounds playing on each side of the ear, panning left and right, immersing the listener to true stereo sounds, giving you a complete eargasm of juicy vibrations. These headphones work great for songs that have multitrack recordings with hard L/R panning. The Beatles did that a lot almost in every song, "Happiness Is A Warm Gun". Every genera blasts through with clarity, from System of a Down's heavy guitar shreds or Hip-hops bassy beats. Atmosphere sounds amazing, "One of a Kind", or Eminem's "Rabbit Run" will make your head-bob with a big smirk on your face as you sing along. Well there's enough evidence here to safely assume this guy is a stoner, or just a lover of good music who gets quite the boner. ENOUGH ABOUT MY LAME MUSICAL TASTE, ONTO THE PRODUCT WITH GREAT HASTE: Keep in mind that I'm listening to them while writing this review. Includes: -Stupid Plastic Packaging! (Scissors not included...) -Instruction Manual (In four languages!) -One Year Warranty (Only In English, Printed In China) -Plastic Carrying Case -Two Extra Silicon Earbud Pieces (Large and Small) -And that's it! -Oh Yeah, The Awesome Headphones! (Medium Earbuds Already Attached) So I found it interesting I could keep turning up the volume and they wouldn't distort that much, crisp and clean sound throughout. The shape/design of them are odd but doesn't affect anything, they're light and fit snug. And for all those who wear saying the bass is overwhelming or powerful...well it's kinda true. I love bass a lot, but these aren't that bassy. Damn you! But no worries, everything is balanced to where you don't need any enhancing effects. I bought these for iPod use mainly, walking to work with them, bike rides or jogging. I don't jog. They stay in your ears very well unlike those s***ty pair that come with Apples products, worthless and painful! When you buy an iPod, just throw those headphones away or better yet, burn them so seagulls or sea creatures don't get tangled up in them making animal-lovers cry. It includes a neat plastic case that pops open easily which holds the manual, warranty, and extra earbud pieces. Don't try to pry it open with a knife like I did...yeah total moron. I've been buying headphones left and right every month now because apparently I haven't been taking good enough care of them, since every single one died on me! Because one side of the earbuds would go out and they'd be useless, after buying them at Staples one week prior. I could eventually get some audio out of them when I bent the cable a certain way near the gold Jack, but that's ridiculous and you should just buy a new pair. I used to own an $80 dollar pair of nice Sony earbuds and they lasted a long time then eventually did that thing I said a few sentences ago. Must be a curse. Do not buy those cheapo $9.99 pairs or even the $19.99 ones! Doesn't matter what the brand is, for some reason that price just means -- I WILL FALL APART ON YOU FOR NO REASON! So I hope these last, and I think they will because the red cord feels tough enough...I don't know what I'm talking about so just be careful with them. They won't split because of that little black thingy in the middle that has "JVC" and "HA-FX1X" printed on each side. ANYWAY! If you're looking for basic headphones that don't cover your ears, get these. They're cheep here on Amazon and they don't feel like they're in your ears at all. As if the music is floating along with you. FINAL THOUGHT's: I hope you enjoyed my biased review and I'm sure there are better headphones out there of course, it's just these aren't flimsy specious skullcandy's. The reviews on here convinced me to get them and I couldn't be happier...no wait I could be happier but it's irrelevant to headphones. The next headphones I'll be getting are those really nice Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones, for stay at home editing and whatna. They'll be perfect for mixing audio or just laying in bed toking and getting lost in the music. Same goes with these JVC earbuds, they're great just for relaxing and listening to your favorite album and be in a complete trance for hours. ----------------------- *Update* 11/24/16 My God this review was cheesy. I apologize.... Anyway, so after four years of use one of the ear buds went out. I loved these things and I'm not sure what I did that made left or right bud stop working but don't let this deter you from getting these amazing affordable earbuds that fit snug in your ears. Way better than the rocks Apple gives you which I'm relying on now till I either order these ones or get beats audio or something. I don't regret this purchase at all.

You have to ask yourself: IS BASS EVERYTHING? (in a headphone, or IEM earphone?) If it IS everything to the listener, then they've found Nirvana in the JVC "New" Xtreme Xplosives In Ear (Headphones), the "New" being some subtle dynamic changes to the driver itself while increasing its size to 10mm from 9mm. If you carefully read the stats that are included in the kit with the earphones, the Frequency Response has improved to 8khz through 23,000khz also. Very, very commendable range for a budget earphone, I must say! Even if bass response and integration isn't everything, and you're looking for the **best sounding budget earphones** you've also hit Gold here with this earphone. Why? Because the ambiance, sound stage, clarity, construction and dynamic representation of the individual notes and chords that make up a piece of music are finely and specifically, distinctly tightly integrated, with bass, mids, and highs each given a nice cross-over treatment by JVC in engineering these new 'phones. I have been openly comparing these new JVC's with my Ultimate Ears Triple Fi Pros, which should just plain outclass, outdrive, and bounce out of the ball park these inexpensive 'phones. Does that happen, or did it happen in my experience? Not on your life! Admittedly the Triple Fi's are much better at constructive integration and sound cross-over disbursement, ie the notes, from high to low, are displayed to the inner ear in perfect harmony. The highs are tonally correct, not "tinny or piercing"; the mids are not muddied and too loud or too soft, just right; and the bass is awesome, and quite deep and loud when necessary also. But the JVC's are not anything but about a 1/4-step behind the $349 Triple Fi's in any department it turns out, by my direct comparison of the two systems. I used a series of Apple lossless, and 320khz encoded albums that I have, first in my Android smartphone, a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5.3" AMOLED 1280x800 display equipped item; then I played the same albums using iTunes player, with my No.1 PC (OEM built Intel Core i7 970 6-12 Core CPU, 24GB DDR3 RAM, twin EVGA GTX 560 Ti SC's in SLI, and a beautiful Asus Xonar Essence 24-bit, 192khz PCI ST Sound Card-with integrated headphone amp no less...and other tricks and treats I needn't go into here). Couple that system with a Rolls HA-43 Pro 4-channel Headphone Amp, dedicated to the PC No.1 only with integrated controls, and you have my test bed in a nutshell. With the Samsung Note, I had four audio players to choose from, Google's Play Music player, Samsung's native Music Player, and two pay-for apps, PlayerPro Music Player, and WinAmp Pro player. So I nixed WinAmp for the test session (this past weekend) and used Google's, PlayerPro, and Samsung's player which is surprisingly good with lossless and 320khz-encoded music files (it has Dolby 5.1 Sound available, NICE!). The best comparo I can give you for the review is two albums that I favor for massive tonality gestures+ rock-my-arse-off heavy, heavy cookin' bass lines: "Valleys of Neptune" by the finest guitarist to ever pick one up, Jimi Hendrix; Thievery Corporation's "Mirror Conspiracy" which has arguably some of the finest bass and pump-handle bammin', slammin' groovy electronic jazz ever cut on vinyl, or CD for that matter! This headphone, the JVC Xplosives, just blew my mind with its constant, pulsing, never-stopping bass rendering, both by Billy Cox and Noel Redding's hand in the Hendrix album, while Thievery Corp's "Mirror Conspiracy" served up some delicious, tight, Ka-BAM-BAM! lyrical and sumptuous bass lines, just penetrating all and every other note struck by the artists in the groups. Incredible! The JVC's are brutal and direct with their bass pumps, the new 10mm neodynium-laced drivers at that, as bass in these phones is simply overwhelming, but in a good way, not a way that it possesses the songs, no, none of that. The JVC bass doesn't lack for volume, drive, thumps, deepness and tonally correct high-bass notes (some of the hardest for rendering in any earphone/headphone). The heavy bass compliments the songs 100%, never blowing out the sound and energy of any given line or lyric, it's just HEAVY, and LOUD, in the best way possible. Much heavier than the Triple Fi Pro's in all respects: volume, impedance, thrust, and certainly punch! These things are ROCK CITY! The Triple Fi's by comparison, are just about as loud as the JVC, but not quite...punchy and tight yes, but overwhelming and directive like the JVC's are? Not on your life! The Triple Fi's are cleaner in defining the various registers or a lyrical line in a song, they hang-in there when you think they are going to explode and just render amazing mids and highs, and overall are just more refined and special than the brass funk of the JVC's. Both phones are excellent however, hard to choose which is the best, but have to go with the Triple Fi's for overall sound clarity and non-violent rendering of all classes of sound in all the music I played for them to excel with...JVC's are just a hair behind, with a bit of muddiness in the high bass lines, and "overflow" into the mid-range registers on some very loud songs in both albums. They are both winners in their own ways, but the fact that the JVC's are on the same page as the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi Pro's is totally off-the-planet scale-wise!! Holy Cow Batman!!! They really push out bass unlike any cheap, or inexpensive set of phones are meant to do, you think? I guess so because they pull it off with aplomb and solid, finely and tightly punched-out bass notes that simply permeate your head, TOTALLY! Next? We switch over to the fantastic PC NO.1 with its Asus sound card/amp/and Rolls HA-43 Pro amp to totally blow the suds out of both sets of headphones/earphones, just make them speechless and trembling because of the POWER driven through them by the Rolls amp. It's a good combo for both sets of phones however, don't let this overwhelm your thinking at this point, because a good headphone amp does nothing more than amplify and clarify the driven sound of any headphone/earphone getup, and I mean ANY! And make it much, much louder with that clarity intact for anything you put through the system, ANYTHING! First, I have to admit prejudice to the Ultimate Ears units because I've been listening with this particular set for almost 6 months, and I broke them in carefully, steadily, and surely with 24/7 playback (put albums on never-ending refresh, and let them rip!) for something like 3.5 weeks, ie while I was working or not using the PC No.1 it was breaking in the Triple Fi's for all that time...I figure about 450 hours of actual musical interlude with the phones, non-stop. They say 500 hours is ideal for break-in of any headphone or earphone, and I tend to think similarly, with variations on that theme, by specifically altering the type of music you push through the phones, programming them carefully and methodically to break-in the phones to the types of music YOU listen to, yah? Right! Anyway, on the headphone amp and PC setup these two sets of earphones just knocked my level-headed socks off their perch, and sent them into space somewhere, I think!! I really don't know, they are both so competent in all respects, the Triple Fi's handling any and all types of sounds and music emanating from those two radical and precedent setting albums, arguably. With Hendrix playing guitar, you *know* you're in for some action like you've never heard a guitar attempt to do, much less actually do, and the JVC's carry his heavy and intricate, radical and tortuous guitar ripping and grinding, shredding if you will, into another dimension. You never lose sight of the bass line, but Jimi just dominates the songs and their performance so strong-handedly that you'd expect the phones to not respond quick enough, fast enough to catch it all intact...but the JVC's do just fine and Hendrix comes through in all 99-shades of purple, red, black, and blues musical lines that he liked to play for the people. Gosh I miss him! Verdict? The JVC's and the Triple-Fi's tie on the amp setup, how about that? I can't give the nod to either as they are equally competent and the staging or ambiance attached to each song remains intact, is correctly translated by the phones into pure aural pleasures for the listener, no more and no less. It is almost perfect, and I can't imagine two more distinctly different, yet so similar in results, headphones in action on my beast of a PC sound system, all optically-cabled I might add. This is good news! My $25 JVC headphones are the equal of the Triple Fi's ($349) in almost every respect, just losing out ever so slightly on clarity and sound stage for the various eclectics and dynamics of the music. Now there are some ways the Triple Fi's blow the little JVC's out of the water, and mainly it is the pure and professional construction of the physical aspects of the set, the wiring, the over-the-ear placement of the lead wiring vs. the "hang down to your guts" wire arrangement of the JVC's. Additionally the Triple-Fi's have a 2 year warranty vs. the JVC's 1-year coverage. The wiring on the Triple Fi's are replacement oriented, ie you can detach the wiring from the headphones and literally replace them as new with the help of Logitech (UE's new owners) of course! They are also easier to place in the ear canal subjectively, physically they are simply easier to 'get right' as rain in the ear, no discomfort even after many, many hours of use. And finally, the total package from Ultimate Ears is mind blowing in itself: attenuator modem for airplanes and busses and trains; extension cord; L-shaped connectors that are solid gold plated, 24Kt style. There are other things too, which should be mentioned in this review that I personally favor and use, for my own pleasure and comfort it seems. YMMV... For the phones I never use the stock silicon ear pads, I toss them in the trash because I'll never use them, and I mean NOT EVER. I long ago discovered foam tips, and chose the TX-500's Comfort Ear Pads for both of these particular headphones, and man, what a difference it makes to use foam tips! One is totally isolated from the outside environment with foam tips, no sound whatsoever gets into the ear canal if you get a perfect seal goin' on, so like, DO NOT DRIVE A CAR with these in place, you'll most likely crash if you do! In addition to the foam ear pads, which have earwax protection built into their interior spaces by the way, ie little tiny screens are fused into the pad material, which is "high response Recovery Foam" in nature, for a forever-good prophylaxis from anything getting into the phones, God forbid! I use the factory containers for traveling with any earphones, ie the Ultimate Ears stainless steel getup is my favorite of course, but the JVC's small plastic (hard) "black box" is adequate for the length and breadth of the earphones and their cable, that crazy-strong but flexible bright red contact wiring. The UE cabling is form fitting around the ear, ie it has "memory effect" so that it's always in the same spot when it comes time to place them in the ears for a session, a far superior method of wiring up an earphone. That's the essence of my review for these fantastic budget-minded earphones, although I heavily favor the over-the-ear setup of the UE's, the JVC's are aok fine for hang-down earphones, un-over-the-ear type wiring. The weight is on the JVC's side, they are much lighter than the UE's, what with triple mini-drivers and speaker ports in the UE earphones vs a single helical driver system in the JVC's. But this phone all by itself deserves the award for Wavey Davey's "Best Earphones Less than $30!", as I cannot emphasize how good these are sound-wise for the price-point they are in...it is just unbelievable! If JVC had made them over-the-ear phones, they'd sell out to the walls each and every shipment, I am certain of this...it's just that important to any level of user, critic, consumer, musician, or anybody else for that matter. Once you've had the system OTE, you don't go back. Same for foam pads, you never, ever want to use silicon after you try foams. As above, the JVC's get the "Best Earphones Less Than $30" Award from Wavey Davey, and any consumer who is capable of getting a "true seal" on their phones in the ear would have to agree, certainmounte? I think so!! They are weak in the cable department, not having attachable cables that can be replaced, but then again you don't see this in the price point area they are in, so big deal about that. But overall? They are winners pure and pure again! Sound is unreal and strong, strong on the bass side, with a nice crossover-network effect, albeit not a complete 3D cross-over like in the UE Triple Fi's. What a value, too! My Lord, it is a winner right there bar none! Finally, thank you for reading my extensive, but thorough delving into the essence of the JVC phones, as they deserved a complete review, which they now have, so there you go! Okay. I have consistently bought these Sony Sony Mdr-Ex55/Blk Ex Earbuds Headphones with Silicon Housing (Black) headphones since I've owned any type of MP3 player. These were the first set of "above-ipod" level headphones. They were $50 at Wal-mart, and I absolutely loved them. A year into them, the left ear started cutting out. I thought eh, they lasted a year. Time for new ones! Same thing happened about 7 months into those. These I've had about a year, and they're going on not only the left ear, but also the 3.5mm male end. But I keep coming back because I have yet to hear headphones that sound this amazing. Suddenly, I discover the highest rated headphones on Amazon, the JVC Xtreme Xplosives. The reviews aren't wishy-washy, they're all the same- this product excels beyond others. But does it? Comparing these to the now $15 Sony headphones, they aren't even slightly close. These headphones are simply another trendy thing that everyone buys. When you compare these to the stock iPod headphones, obviously these are not even in the same league. The same goes for the Skull-Candy ones. Everyone thinks they're so fantastic, cause they're loud as hell and vibrate like a mofo when listening to your favorite (untalented) rap song. That's not sound quality. That's not a sound experience. Those things give me a headache after 30 seconds. A wise electrical engineer once told me, "When sound quality is at its finest, you won't even realize that you're listening to it far louder than you should. You'll damage your ears and not even know it." So much truth. Those Sony headphones are spectacular. These aren't. They leave this EXTREMELY obnoxious hissing sound (granted, it is very quiet, but still there) when you plug them in. The same sound an ungrounded stereo makes. Here's an organized way of me comparing the two: -Sony- Pros: - superb sound quality - the ability to eliminate virtually any sound quieter than a train - light - sleek - comfortable for numerous (8+) hours - sound quality is undoubtedly a 10/10 Cons: - freaking annoying "behind the neck" cord design. Seriously, who even wants that? - they last around a year at best - that's it. -Xploads- Pros: - LOUD. about half volume on my laptop matched the volume of my old ones. - the cord seems virtually indestructible - JVC is a reputable brand - powerful bass Cons: - obnoxious hissing sound while they're at -infinite dB. almost like an old stereo static. - odd angle or earbuds entering ear - heavy(ish) - sound quality is a 6/10 - whoever is around you can head almost every single thing in the music, which would annoy others in a confined space. In conclusion, these headphones do sound good, and $30 is a decent price, hence the 3 stars. But they don't compare to the bass/treble/just overall sound richness of the Sony's. I'm sending these Xploads back in the mail shortly. Not disappointed per-say, just wish I could have found a remedy for my constantly breaking Sony headphones. I doubt it will ever happen under the $100 range. Cheers.

After burning through three pairs of the standard headphones that come with Apple products in only a few months, I decided that I'd go ahead and try a pair of earbuds made by a different brand. I must say that I'm happy with my decision. As a professional producer and musician I can appreciate a great pair of headphones that put out some serious sounds. In fact, these JVC earbuds are the least expensive pair of headphones that I have in my collection but I needed a reliable pair that I could take on the road for casual listening without worrying about losing or damaging my $500 pair of studio headphones. Musicians and fans of music in general learn to appreciate the small things that make listening to music more enjoyable and personal. There are a couple of things about these earbuds that I have really become fond of: === THE GOOD === - Bass Response When I first read the advertised frequency response for these headphones was supposedly 5Hz - 23,000Hz I literally laughed out loud and began to doubt my decision to purchase them as I continued opened the package. I popped them in my iPhone, started up a track I was familiar with, and ended up very surprised with the amount of bass these things put out. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these headphones accurately reproduce the advertised frequency response cause that wouldn't be accurate, but the quality of sound that these babies put out (especially for the price) is very impressive. The bass is deep and thick which really gives the extra punch to the kick drum and adds the right amount of 'special sauce' to the bass guitar which adds a very special touch to most tracks. The bass response alone more than justifies the price of the headphones. - Comfort These headphones fit perfectly in my ears and are comfortable enough to listen to continuously for hours without becoming uncomfortable or accidentally falling out of my ears every time I turn my head. If you get inside your music like I do then you know that the headphones falling out of your ears can literally ruin a song. These things have managed to stay snug in my ears and have never fallen out, even though they probably should when things have been crazy on the road in the past. I'm not 100% sure the earbuds will fit perfectly in every ear, but I know they fit perfectly in mine. I mean, how different can the holes in our ears really be? - Cord Length Once again, we're talking about little things here. The length of the cord is just around 4 feet which ends up being just right. Think of it like having 'custom tailored' headphones for your body. The cord is just long enough for you to listen to them while your phone or iPod is in your pocket but isn't absurdly long which would open up the possibility of it getting caught on something and pulling the earbuds out of your ears or phone. This may not be a problem for some people, but I know that I've had problems with this in the past while traveling or in the studio. === THE NOT SO GOOD === If there's something that I think you should know about, I'm going to tell you. That's just how I roll. There's only one thing about most pairs of in-ear headphones that is important to think about. This 'problem' isn't only with this specific pair of headphones but usually occurs across the board with any headphones that go inside your ears. The way the human body is made amplifies noises made by your mouth, teeth, vocal chords, etc while these headphones are in your ears. If you're a vocalist and like to hum or sing to your tracks or occasionally chew gum or eat food while you listen to music, you're going to hear it more than you normally do. BUT, the upside of having in-ear headphones means that external noises are much less obvious which is a bonus. This is just a trade-off you'll have to keep in mind before buying any headphones. If you're cool with the minor issue of hearing the noises your mouth makes while you eat or sing with your headphones in then these headphones are a great addition to any collection.

Straight out of the packaging, the set I received was defective. There was absolutely no bass response and the sound was extremely tinny. Instructions from JVC were to call the JVC support number for warranty replacement...which when you call is not one of the available options and no way to reach a general human for call routing by pressing '0' or '#'. After navigating the menu and speaking to a tech support agent, I was told the following: 1. This is not a "bass" headset and nowhere on the packaging does it state that it should have responsive bass. The packaging actually DOES state "extreme deep bass port" and the frequency response is supposed to be much lower than other earbuds. When I explained this, I was told: 2. Read me the frequency numbers from when you when measured the bass. I explained that I didn't measure the frequency with a scientific instrument, I put them in my ears and it sounded like it was coming through a tin can. I varied the EQ on 3 different sources and got the same response from them all. I was then told: 3. You could NOT have done that, as there is no setting on these headphones to vary the EQ, it is preset. After explaining that I'm aware that the heaset has preset frequency responses, I varied the EQ settings on the SOURCE...THREE sources (2 iPods and a stereo). The unit is defective. I asked to speak to someone else. I was told: 4. I don't think that the unit is defective. At this point I became angry and asked to speak to someone who wasn't incompetent, which made me even more angry for losing my temper over a set of sub-$30 earbuds. They don't work. I own several sets of headphones and earbuds, Marshall, Sony, Apple, Bose, etc. I'm not an idiot. All I wanted was a decent, inexpensive set to keep in my desk drawer at work. After being put on hold, I was given a number to fax my receipt and info. I was then told that in 14 days a decision would be made on whether or not to replace the earbuds. SERIOUSLY? Replacement or not, I will never EVER pay money for another JVC product. I understand that this will sound like an overreaction to a bad experience with JVC customer service, and yes...that's exactly what it is. Your product did not work, you treated me like an idiot, and made no guarantee to fix my problem...over a set of earbuds?! How angry would I be over a defective TV or stereo with this kind of treatment? We'll never find out.

Ero timoroso che la qualità audio, fosse "focalizzata" solo sui bassi, invece ho sentito musica come non avevo mai ascoltato prima, brani che conosco benissimo, si sono rivelati con qualità musicali mai ascoltate prima. Sono entusiasta della qualità audio di queste cuffie. Passiamo ai punti dolenti : 1) Purtroppo la conformazione del mio orecchio sinistro mi fa avere difficoltà nel far aderire (anche mettendo il gommino più piccolo) la cuffia all'orecchio interno ma, probabilmente è dovuto ad una mia conformazione anatomica strana. 2) La custodia delle cuffie (inclusa nella confezione) non dà una impressione di robustezza, anche se spero di essere smentito alla prova dei fatti. 3) Pensavo, guardando la foto che le cuffie fossero leggermente meno "ingombranti". Detto ciò, le consiglio comunque per la loro straordinaria qualità musicale.

An audiophile since music first entered my ears,these earphones are by far the best in its class which provide mind-numbing zero distortion lows(bass),and crystal clear mids and highs. Not cracking at full volume and extremely comfortable even for long hours of use. Looks like a hefty beast and performs like one too. A bit overpriced on Amazon,but great packaging and authentic product.

Ces écouteurs sont excellent, la qualité de fabrication est bonne, le son est monstrueux et le prix est plus que correct ! Ils sont proposés à 10 ou 11€ sur Amazon avec dans le packaging, une petite boite de rangement et 3 embouts en silicone de taille different. Après un bon peitit rodage, les écouteurs délivrent un son puissant, avec des basses qui "claquent", mais le reste du spectre est là et les bassent ne prennent pas trop le dessus. La boite livrés avec est très pratique, les écouteurs se rangent super facilement dedant et la boite est resistante. Il y a également 3 embouts en silicone, taille S, M et L. Faite des tests pour voir laquel des trois tailles délivrent le meilleur son pour vous. On sent bien la différence au niveau du son mais également au niveau du confort ! Personnellement se sont la taille S qui me vont le mieux. Effectivement comme dit dans certain commentaire les écouteurs sont imposants, ils ressortent pas mal des oreilles mais ce n'est pas dérangeant... Le seul point négatif que je donnerais à c'est écouteurs est le confort. Ce n'est pas top top, je récent une gène au bout de quelque minutes, c'est dommage car à part ca ils ont vraiment un rapport qualité/prix incroyable ! C'est la première fois que j'achète du JVC et je suis pas decu, je vais me commander d'ailleurs rapidement un casque JVC qui je pense doivent avoir une excellente qualité aussi ! ;)

Si estás buscando un producto de màxima calidad en todos sus aspectos aquí lo tienes. Precio y calidad insuperables. Siempre he usado JVC y con cada producto de esta casa he ido quedandome màs convencido. Tengo un equípo de sonido del año 96 y solo le he tenido que cambiar una resistencia funcionando en alto rendimiento ya que soy un melòmano enpedernido. Después de testar los auriculares, me han dado ganas de escribir esta crítica, ya que el producto lo merece. En primer lugar decir que he ido poniendolos a prueba con diferentes rangos de sonido, destaca un buen balance en diferentes tonos, quedando muy equilibrados cuando lo usamos con aparatos preamplificados tipo ipod, donde puedes jugar con los diferentes efectos que vienen incorporados en èl. El aislamiento del sonido ambiente es al 100%, tened en cuenta este dato ya que podríais quedar ensordecidos y especialmente expuestos a posibles accidentes si lo usaís para ir en bici o cruzar la calle. Armónicos sutiles, medios claros y agúdos exquicitos, los bajos son su punto fuerte, intentar buscad un punto medio si disponeis de aparatos preamplificados, yo los uso en modo flat o reduzco bajos en frecuencias màs altas. Con música Jazz, ambient y deep house es una maravilla, con estilos màs cercanos tipo rock y pop vais a disfrutar como nunca, estareís a vuestro rollo concentrados si estais en el gym, ya que las almoadillas que traen se mantienen muy bien en el pabellon auditivo, materiales de primera calidad, de tacto robusto y duradero, en difinitiva estamos ante los mejores auricalares in ear del mercado, si lees esto te los recomiendo y quedareís muy satisfechos de vuestra inverción.
