This reader did what it's supposed to do. I have a PC, Windows 11. No problem getting it to do its job. Instructions are fairly clear and accurate. There are some disks that it couldn't read or open. Actually, I was amazed that it could read/open anything. Some of my 3.5s are around 26 years old. It opened old photo files and Word files just fine....but some data files it could not. Printing anything required me to copy and past in a current Word program then print. Copy/paste also made it easy to save to my computer. I am pleased with this item.

Works like a charm! 20 Yrs ago I bought a Mavica camera that used 3 1/2 floppy’s. As the Years progressed and my computer no longer supported the floppy’s. I had hundreds of pictures and needed this Floppy Disk reader to download my images to my flash drive. Highly recommend!

We needed this reader because we had some pictures that were on some 3.5 disks and we no longer had a computer with a reader. This one worked great and was affordable. The reason for the 4 star is the reader is kind of noisy

Easy to use, followed the instructions and got through all of my old disks in no time. Worth the investment to clear out the space.

I wanted something simple: plug in a floppy drive, read more than one disk, and rescue old files. The Chuanganzhuo CAZED-006 looked promising at a budget price, but in real use it proved fundamentally unreliable and nearly useless. Right out of the box the unit did spin up and show the first disk just fine — that was the only time it worked. After swapping to a second disk (even a perfectly good one), the reader would stubbornly cling to the first disk’s contents, refusing to refresh or recognize new data. The drive effectively becomes a single-disk read-only device, even if you eject the disk and insert another. That’s not a minor annoyance — it defeats the entire purpose of having a floppy reader. This problem persisted across multiple systems I tried, including a completely different PC setup. It wasn’t an isolated USB port or driver issue — the hardware itself just refused to read beyond the first disk. Nothing short of miraculous happened when switching computers. Some product literature suggests you can “refresh” or force a re-read by unplugging the unit and reconnecting it, and some user manuals even coach you on how to manually refresh the drive in File Explorer to see new disk data. In practice, those so-called workarounds are half measures at best — they don’t consistently fix the core problem of switching disks, and they feel like excuses for a design that doesn’t work the way it should. Digging around online, you’ll see mixed signals. On marketplaces there are a handful of positive ratings suggesting the drive works on Windows 10 or handles a batch of floppy disks without issue. But there’s also at least one outright negative review where someone says it “does not work and does not meet the specifications in the description.” That’s exactly the experience I had — anything beyond a single floppy becomes a gamble. To be clear — this is a simple peripheral, not rocket science. A floppy reader shouldn’t need driver hacks or manual refresh tricks just to load a second disk. The fact that this one behaves that way suggests either cheap parts, poor firmware, or sloppy integration between the mechanical reader and the host system. Bottom line: if you need to consistently read a collection of floppy disks and actually retrieve data, this Chuanganzhuo CAZED-006 is not the tool for the job. It functions sporadically at best, and it’s downright useless for everyday legacy data transfer. I’d skip it entirely and look for a more reliable USB floppy solution that doesn’t require so much technical wrangling just to read a second disk.

Great little device — saved my old memories This floppy drive worked like a charm. I plugged it in, and within seconds I was opening files I hadn’t seen in decades. Smooth, quiet, and surprisingly fast for a floppy reader. I really appreciate that it includes both USB‑A and USB‑C, so it works with everything. If you’ve got old disks lying around, this is the perfect tool to bring them back to life.

It's the perfect size to fit in my laptop bag, it looks nice, and it works perfectly. I'm very pleased.

I bought this floppy drive to use to recover old games and data. I have multiple computers, and was able to get this to work just fine on a Windows 7 Pro laptop, but on my Windows 10 Home desktop the drive just sat and spun. I plugged it in and the light came on and the drive turned... and turned... and turned... in addition, it was very noisy. I tried both front and back USB ports, nothing made a difference. I see other people have been able to get it to work on Windows 10, but I did not have another Windows 10 machine to try to see if it was an issue with my computer or with the drive. Since it would not work on the newer machine, I am returning it to get a different drive that will work. Again, it did work fine on my Windows 7 machine, so it appears to be a problem with 10 (or my machine) only. Update: I was trying to recover data from floppies to my Windows 10 Home machine. I ended up trying five different devices and am posting my review to let you know my results. First, all five devices worked PERFECTLY on my Windows 7 Pro laptop. However, when plugging in to my Windows 10 machine, three of them would only sit and spin with the drive light on, even though they were recognized as drives by Win10. After a little looking, I found that the devices that worked on my Windows 10 machine identified themselves and used the driver for the Y-E Data USB floppy, while the devices that just sat and spun identified themselves and used the driver for a TEAC floppy drive. So there must be a little difference in the internal configuration of the drive that is causing the issue. I tried 5 devices and found that the Tendak USB Floppy Disk Drive worked perfectly, as did the Esynic USB Floppy Drive . Both identified as Y-E Data USB floppy drives. When they were plugged in, they worked smoothly and quietly. It was a toss-up which one to choose to keep, but I eventually went with the Tendak because it seemed slightly quieter and faster, but that was really subjective. The Tendak also had more information such as a warranty card and information on how to contact support, while the Esynic box was empty. As far as quality of the drive, they seemed identical. If I had needed more than one drive, I would have kept them both. For me, initially the Sabrent External USB 1.44 MB 2x Floppy Disk Drive (FL-UDRV) seemed the nicest. The box was glossy with information covering it, you'd expect to see this sitting on a shelf in a big box store. (All other drives came in plain brown boxes). There were touches of quality in how the drive was packed, the box was made to fit it with a area for the cable to fit in and a dust cover over the USB end to keep it clean. It came with a beautiful guide to using the floppy, including information like the write-protect switch and not removing a floppy while the drive light is on, that newer users would not be familiar with. They also had a support phone number, and the person who answered seemed to be an American. Unfortunately, this was one of the devices that would not work on my Windows 10 machine. It identified as a TEAC USB Floppy drive, and when plugged in it simply had the drive light turn on and continuously seek for data. It worked perfectly in my Windows 7 machine, and was very fast and smooth. The support representative was not aware of any issue that would prevent it from working on my machine, and it does work on other people's Windows 10 machines. If I hadn't needed it working on my Windows 10 machine as well, I would have kept this one in a heartbeat. From other reviews, it appears that it works on other people's Windows 10 machines, so I'd recommend you at least try it. Both devices worked fine on Windows 7 Pro, but on Windows 10 Home they immediately had the drive light up and started a very loud seek process that never finished. These devices were louder than any other drive I tested, but did work just fine under Windows 7. Both used the TEAC USB Floppy driver as well. My conclusion: If you are lucky enough to be one of those whose computers will use the Sabrent External USB 1.44 MB 2x Floppy Disk Drive (FL-UDRV) , get that drive. It is quality. If you can't, either the Tendak USB Floppy Disk Drive or the Esynic USB Floppy Drive will probably make you happy.

Very poor products

I have been able to retrieve my old files from floppy's. Once I finish, I can chuck out all the old floppy's

This did the job when I found I had a bunch of diskettes with old old photos.

Works very well. Better than I expected, considering the age spread in technology.

On occasions the Desk Top displays a message that the item was dismounted incorrectly even though no action was taken to disconnect the drive. A reconnection then takes place. This is disturbing. Ce rain discs take long to display its data even though there is just one file.
