Good for smaller projects
Quality drill as most Dewalt products are. Does the job for smaller DIY jobs. With larger masonary bits, need to be patient as drill overheats quickly. Would not recommend for heavier usage such as drywall or tile set mortar.

Excellent quality. Heavy than expected. Highly recommend
DIYer. Easily drilled into brick walls for high-load anchors. Worked very well. Excellent quality. Heavier than expected. Not for small drilling projects. Highly recommend.

Did the trick
I ordered the DeWalt DW511 to drill a number of 4.5" holes into a concrete slab to set concrete anchors. This drill did the trick. Paired with ta DeWalt masonry drill bit and setting the drill to hammer mode, I was able to make the holes very quickly - like going through butter. For a DIYer like myself this drill seems to be more than adequate - for a tradesman probably not so much. Since I don't anticipate having to use this drill in hammer mode too frequently I think this drill will last for quite a while.

Works great
Replaced my 20 year old prior model. Works great. If using large or long bits use the handle or plan on a wrist injury!

Chuck will not hold drill bit.
I purchased this because of the great quality of Dewalt products. As per the instructions, to tighten the drill bit you need to tighten all three holes of the chuck-which I've never had to do with other drills. No problem, I did that, and the drill bit lasted for about 10 seconds before it would come loose. I even took a chance on breaking the chuck key and use pliers on it to really make sure the chuck was tight. Lasted only 10 seconds. I expected more quality control from Dewalt. I will be returning this and looking for another brand to purchase.

First rate tool! Made in the USA, too!
I bought this because I had a flooring project at my house in which I had to drill plywood and concrete to place a subfloor over concrete. I had another hammer drill I was using, but it was 25 years old. It was working fine, but I just wanted to have a backup in case I had a problem. I was using three drills (one to drill the plywood & concrete, one to countersink the holes, and one to screw in the concrete screws). As luck would have it, the old drill quit working. I got out the DeWalt drill, and it was SO much better than the old one. Smaller, lighter, and probably more powerful. The hammer action seemed better, too. The built in stop is a nice feature, also. It made a tedious job much faster. I'm really glad I bought this one. I recommend this drill highly! I had no problems with the chuck loosening, or anything, for that matter. A plastic case wouldn't be bad, but on the other hand, when I'm not using this I will store it in my tool chest. If it had a case, it probably wouldn't fit where I'm going to store it. I don't know how long it will last, but it seems well made. Probably will out live me...

Hammer time.
For the odd time you need a hammer drill, you always wished you had one. This is a solid drill. Works very well with and has loads of power. If you have a house with lots of brick, you'll end up using one of these more than you know. And you'll save time. Just used it again to hang some Christmas lights and mount a mantel to my fireplace.

Close to perfection but...
This is the tool if you actually wanna drill through anything. After buying 3 drills that only disappointed me, this was the one for drilling concrete. Pros: Actually drill. Cons: Drill and drill-holder only, doesn't come with any drill bits, case or bag. Price.

Sturdy and reliable hammer drill
Great drill. I've used it about 5 times already this summer for some light drilling (once you have it you just start thinking of more and more ways to use it). Well built, sturdy, American and the instructions are very clear. Somewhat pricey however but deals are hard to come by on hammer drills.
