Installed 2003 Lexus ES300 and works
Like any old cars, the hood lift supports will go bad eventually. I bought this one based on reviews and supposed to match and fit my old trusty 2003 Lexus ES300. It’s been a “minute” since the last time I installed one of these so watched a youtube video and used a little WD-40 to loosen the up the clamps on the old one before tackling the job. The metal clamps on the old one rusted up a little, but the lube did the trick. It took less than five minutes from start to finish and was pretty easy. Now my hood stays up when fully erected and closes like it’s supposed to. This hood lift support functions as advertised and the cost is worth it. Just make sure to Google for installation instructions on a video posted by an expert if you haven’t done one before. Pretty straightforward but helps to do it correctly the first time. You will need a small flathead screwdriver to pop the clamps from the old one…good luck!

Strong push, easy install
Super easy to pop on (no tools) and seems to have plenty of "oompf" to keep the hood open. Perfect fitment for my 2005 Lexus ES330.

Be careful to properly support the front hood.
I own a 2005 Lexus ES-330. The only difficulty I had was finding the right length of pole and the proper location to secure the front hood, while making sure the old hood-support was stretched to the same length of the new one. This occupied most of my time. After completing that task, the rest was really easy. Just pulled out the clips holding the old hood-support in place, pulled it off, and then popped in the new support. No need to release the clips on the new support when popping it on. Just press fit into position. In my case, the pins holding the new support in place were already greased, so I didn't clean and add apply new grease.
