10/3/12 edited to add: Two years later and I still love this basket. In spite of moving, this baby is still holding strong. I put onions, potato's, citrus (aka: heavy stuff) in it, and have never had a problem. Love it! ------------------------------------------------------------------ I was really scared to buy a set of hanging baskets! Most of the reviews on Amazon (and outside) are filled with numerous customer complaints saying that the chain had broken on them. I think I picked this model because it had the best reviews of all. I was not left disapointed! I've had this hanging in my kitchen for about two weeks now. My boyfriend set it up, so I haven't really examined the quality but so far so good. We've got potatos, onions and garlic hanging up and have not had any problem with the baskets, chains or connectors. As another reviewer pointed the picture is slightly off for this item. The cardboard/brownish stuff in the baskets in the pictures is NOT how they look in person. They look like regular old chome (silver) hanging baskets that you've seen everywhere else. (Mine didn't even come with cardboard inserts, so I have no idea why it's in the photo.) I love it! It is working exactly as I'd hoped!

I purchased this particular hanging basket because it got higher reviews than the other similar ones, and people didn't complain about it breaking. This was a mistake. The baskets weren't connected in the chain correctly. The basket at the top had links that were connected halfway around, not one third around as they should be for a design of three chains. This was easily fixed, no big deal. The other problem with this was that the baskets hung crooked, so I'd have to fix those too, but I never got a chance to. I reached up to turn the basket around 180º so I could adjust the lower sides up, and the mere act of rotating the baskets broke the chain link. I found that this was because these chains are the cheapest kind of chain links you can get, the kind that have a gap at one end where the next link puts its weight. Because of this, even if I fixed this one problem, I couldn't trust this basket because every other chain link is the same way, they're all just waiting to break. So, I never really got a chance to use this product before discovering its design failures. I would definitely not recommend this product to anybody. With how common this problem appears to be with hanging baskets, I would recommend everybody, myself included, go to a hardware store where we can inspect hanging baskets and verify they are not plagued by this common flaw.

UPDATE: Almost a year later and I'm about to replace this thing. The chains on this hanger are too light to support more than a few small pieces of fruit safely. It has feel down at least 6 times over the past eleven months and I've had to piece it back together. Overall after a year of use I'm changing my opinion to it's just okay. Works for bread or lightweight fruit but don't put anything heavy like apples, oranges or onions in it or down it goes. Adjusted stars to 3 not happy. Original 5 star comments...I've had my basket hanging for a couple weeks now and haven't had any issues. We have had few citrus fruits, potatoes and onions as well as our bread hanging in the basket. I tried not to overload the baskets as I felt if I was to put a whole bag of onions & 5 lbs. of potatoes it might not be so good. The chains are lightweight and based on the reviews it seems that it has not held up for some so I've just been putting small amounts in and keeping the weight balanced between the 3 baskets. So, far I haven't had any issues and I really like it. The price was also very reasonable compared to others like it. The top features a hook because I wanted it lower my husband hung about 1 ft. of regular chain from a cup hook on the ceiling. I really love being able to get our fruits and veggies out of the bowl I've been keeping them in on the counter. With them in the basket I can clearly see what I have and use them before they start to spoil. Overall very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend. *I paid full price for this product and the opinions stated are based on mine or my family’s use of it.

Okay, but I had it on the back covered porch and it rusted easily. Threw it away.

I read previous reviews, before purchasing, of the chains breaking on others, but decided to purchase it anyway, as it was still a good price and it seemed that other ones that were more expensive had the same problem. I purchased about 10 feet of chain from Walmart to give it extra length from the ceiling so that I would be able to reach into the top basket easily. As my husband was hanging it, he accidentally pulled apart one of the links of the existing chain holding each of the baskets together. So, he replaced the 3 chains connecting all 3 baskets together. He also added one, so that ours now has 4 chains running from top to bottom on all 3 baskets instead of the 3 chains it comes with. We figured that it would be more secure. We have not had any problems so far. Right now we have 3 apples in the top, 3 avocados and 4 tomatoes in the middle, and 5 onions in the bottom. I am happy with the product. I purchased it knowing that I would be adding chain to make it hang further down from the ceiling and knowing that I may have to replace the chains connecting the basket.

I recently purchased a similar 3 tier hanging basket (not from this company) and within a few days if came crashing down--destroying a favorite plant of mine, if you'd like to know. This basket from creative had better reviews and was said to be the strongest one of its kind on amazon but at the time it was unavailable. After returning the basket that broke I got the one from Creative, which was now available, and have had no trouble with it. That said, it looks exactly like the one that broke on me-EXACTLY, down to the clips on the chain that hold the basket. Perhaps this one has not broken because I have been more careful not to over pack it, or perhaps this one actually is stronger than the others. For now I am rating this on the assumption of the latter.

I was a little leery of buying this basket because of the reports of fasteners failing, but can only conclude that those people loaded ten pounds of produce into it. I have it hanging to the side of the window over the sink and it's currently holding two large onions, seven bananas, two sweet potatoes and a few tomatoes. The splash of colors looks so cheerful and nice. Tomatoes in particular seem to like this airy place and ripen nicely but keep very well because of the high circulation of air. (People should know not to keep regular potatoes in this because they get too much light and need to be stored in as dark a place as possible to prevent them turning green.)

The flimsy chain broke shortly after handing the basket. After collecting all the onions and peppers from the floor, I reattached the broken link. The second time I had to pick up veggies from the floor after it broke again somewhere else, threw it out. Don't save money on these things; only the expensive types will stand to normal weight.

Useful practical and exactly as shown.

Unless you love bruised fruit that you have to gather from your floor, twice, then of course by all means buy this hanging basket. It wasn’t even full, it had 8 kiwi, 3 apples, 2 oranges and a grapefruit in it. I tried to add some apples to the middle basket and it fell apart. My partner and I were just admiring it that afternoon, commenting on how easy it was to see and grab fruit, now I’m finding kiwi under the table and behind the broom. Yum! I had to reconnect the chain shortly after hanging it the first time and now the chain is separated in two more places and one of the welds is broken.

i purchased not that long ago and it has broken under the pressure of a bag of apples and a bag of onions. i now have to order another product. not satisfied at all.

awesome basket! look good and awesome design. pretty much all for the good. chains will not hold 10 pds total. soooo... youll have to invest another 12$ for decent chain to have that rack fully fonctionnal :)
