I kept one behind my drivers seat (blk leather w/ dark charcoal carpet) and within about 6 months it EXPLODED! No the can itself didn't explode thank God but it blew up out the valve. I can't tell you how mad I was after just conditioning and treating the leather the day before. The substance is a fine white powder that was all over everything, in every fiber of the carpet as well. After several cleanings the floorboard behind the drivers seat never did look original and dark as it used to be. SO BUYER BEWARE THESE CAN EXPLODE UNDER MODERATE HEAT IN THE VEHICLE. I live in Cali so hights temp weve gotten was 118°** A: Long term storage upper limit for warranty purposes is 120 degrees. Higher temperatures accelerate wear on the rubber seals which means you'll probably lose pressure prematurely and need to get it repaired more often but UL does test extinguishers to make sure they don't leak or explode during storage up to 175 degrees. **Q: Is it a good one for kitchen** A: This extinguisher will NOT put out a fire in your waste paper basket, cabinets, walls, etc. I would never have one in my kitchen. If it doesn't have the CG approval your boat will not pass inspection.
