Oatey Sure-Vent 1-1/2 in.–2 in. 160 Branch, 24 Stack DFU Air Admittance Valve with White PVC Sch. 40 Adapter

Had a basement up flush toilet that had a gurgle when being flushed, installed this little baby in about 15 minutes and bingo, no more problem.

Works great for under the sink ventilation for sinks. Great price. Good quality material.

Needed a vent for a new bathroom line and didn't want to run one through the roof. I have the pipe in the garage with this on it and it works perfectly.

The vent works as advertised to supply proper venting to auxiliary drains such as an added laundry tub etc. Just follow the instructions provided as to position and minimum rise above your drain line. You simply add a “Tee” to the drain you are venting, and with adding a piece of 1 1/2” PVC, extend it straight up from that tee (4” minimum rise) THEN place this Oatey “cap” on the top and its complete. The Oatey vent cap assembly will provide proper atmosphere to speed up draining while blocking any potential backfliow of waste water, if such should occur due to clogs etc. on other lines feeding your system in series or parallel with this one. My only disappointment was only in its price. Since a “blank pipe” with a coupling installed in its place will do the same job for you - with exception of blocking any potential backflow of waste water - in the event of a “local” clog - (if this same drain is also “coupled” to others, as in a drain line “above it” - that could build sufficient pressures to fill the lower line - and therefore flow out of the vent pipe itself) - therefore - THIS Oatey vent - with its one-way valving - IS PREFERRED IN THAT SCENARIO. BUT …for drains existing “alone” - not sharing other sinks etc. - installing just a “Tee” with a straight pipe (having its length above the trap/drainline by 4” minimu) and placing a coupling on top (for holding a small screen to keep out dust, debris) - is what I have done in many such applications for many years - and obviously far less cost. If the Tee vent pipe is placed along side of a laundry tub and its top coupling is a “22 1/2” (or 1/8 bend) it can be placed and “aimed” to dump any such backflow thst occurred right back into the tub. But again - this works well unless a second floor drain is added into the circuit AND a clog of the local drain complicate things. But if you are not concerned with cost - and you are being inspected by code-hounds, OR other drains ARE tied to the same line (with second story gravity/pressure behind them) then installing THIS OATEY vent cap - installed as instructed - DOES A PERFECT JOB in providing a one way valving for backflow AND in creating the needed vent to speed up the operation of your drain.

The plumbers who installed the original Studor vent also used pipe glue on the valve when they screwed it in. SIGH. Fortunately, when I purchased this as a replacement, the included hardware was exactly what I needed. If you need a valve like this, you know what it is. FUNCTION: Before installing it, I put it over my mouth and looked upward (it's meant to operate vertically). It would not allow air to flow outward, but would allow air inward exactly as desired. The flap inside seems to be higher quality than the original Studor I replaced. INSTALLATION: Very simple. Because of my unique previous install issue with the glue, I cut the existing pipe as close to the top as possible -- cutting off the previous screw-in ring. This included adapter has two levels of inlet rings: 1-1/2 and 2", depending on which pipe you have. They're two separate tapers on the same adapter. I've seen reviews where people seem confused that the smaller ring inside is actually what they need on the same pipe. I hand-tightened the vent and then glued the adapter back to the top if my (now bare) pipe. All of the old symptoms of a failing value went away. Inspecting the old valve (I wasn't about to put my mouth on it), I could tell that it wasn't completely closing anymore. Some dirt or residue was inside it and lightly just blocked the path. 7 year life span on the old one and now a 5-minute replacement next time due to the lack of glue on the threads hah.

My house is older and every drain line in it is tied to one vent pipe. Needless to say I was hearing the shower drain gurgle when the toilet got flushed. I bought the 1.5" as well as the 2.0" Oatey Vents and mounted them on same size saddle connections. Glued them in place on the shower drain pipes and now no more toilet flush with shower gurgle. They perform perfectly so far and my wife is amazed.

I replaced my failed Sioux Chief turbo vent with this Oaty. Instant improvement. Most gurgling is gone. Drain is quiet. I only wish I had figured this out earlier before I tried everything else (thinking I had a clog or other issue).

Hay que tener espacio para su colocación. Yo la use en un lavabo porque me hacia un efecto de vacio y se regresaba el agua del cespol. Esta válvula corrigió el problema. Excelente!
