Not very sturdy, but it’s not plastic is the big thing. Also please don’t put it in recycling as it can contaminate the plastics. This has to be composted. We will be putting it through home compost and if that’s successful- it should be able to be put in home trash. WillCome back and update in some days

Yes, these cups are great. I wanted to post a review after seeing the comments about them melting. First of all, I wouldn't think to use cold cups with anything hot anyways. So I put hot water from my office water dispenser into one of the cups. It shriveled up like you would expect. It still held the water though.Yes the shipping cost is ridiculous.

We ordered these for a book launch on planet awareness so wanted guests to know they were biodegradable. We used them for wine. Rather than the 8 oz, these 6 oz are good for parties as you can hold a cup and a small plate in one hand and walk around without spilling.

Ahhhhh, these cups. They actually MELTED after being outside (in the shade!) for a short period of time. We had purchased them for a wedding, and they created a bit of pre-ceremony chaos. We had to send someone out to get more cups and he missed the ceremony. Definitely not worth purchasing if you are going to be using them in anywhere but highly air conditioned spaces, apparently! Would NOT purchase again. In the process of getting a refund, which, at least, Amazon was happy to assist with (excellent customer service, as always!).
