Yes it's rugged. Yes it seals. It's a good unit.
I've included a number of pictures so that folks can compare what this unit ACTUALLY is vs what it may be perceived to be.Yes it's rugged. The entire outsideis silicon with the exception of the heat sink side . The silicone seals the unit between the heatsink and internal plastic case (so no need for extra gaskets). It will be waterproof to some degree but I don't know if there's a rating.Nice touches: all of the screws are the same hex head, so one tool can do everything. Fixed cable. Relatively compact.Potential cons: plastic internal case, though I don't know how much this matters. Fixed cable. Not tool free, so not great for hot swapping. You must use heat sink tape (included) to bridge the gap between your NVME and the heatsink part. If you do not do this, you will have heat issues.Speed is normal for USB 3+Overall: a good little rugged unit. Follow the install instructions and you shouldn't have any issues.

Tech skills required.
Step 1. install your chosen m.2 drive into the spare slot in your desktop.Step 2. check device manager to make sure the drive is there.Step 3. open disk management and format the drive. Complete the steps, figure it out.Step 4. remove m.2 drive from desktop computer.Step 5. Install m.2 drive into the enclosure without the cover on.Step 6. Plug into desktop, check to make sure desktop recognizes drive. then unplugStep 7. Install thermal strip and cover, do not tighten screws all the way, leaving slight gap.Step 8. Plug back in and if recognized slowly tighten screws with drive still plugged in. check the gap between screws and housing for even torque.Step 9. unplug drive, check screw gaps, plug back in and recheck connection. (if no recognition repeat strep 7-8 leave the thermal strip alone)Step 10. If good connection unplug and drop device bouncing off the desk onto the floor.Step 11. Plug back in and check the screw gaps repeating step 10, 2-3 times. lightly tighten screws with drive plugged in.Step 12. unplug drive and drop test one last time. plug back in and check gaps. If satisfied and good connection Enjoy your blazing fast custom external M.2. You earned it!

Exceeded my high expectations!
I have a box of SSD external enclosures and I have to say I'm very impressed with this. It's a little bit bigger than I expected but I'm just fine with this. The SSD hard drive gets fairly warm so the enclosure acts as a heat sink. The enclosure itself is very well made. I would not call it sexy but it sure does not look cheap like other enclosures I've purchased. Performance wise (with the M.2 NVMe SSD I purchased separately) this thing screams on my 2019 Macbook Pro!! Its super easy to install the M.2 NVMe SSD hard drive. You snap it into the socket, put the heatsink tape on top of the hard drive and screw it shut with the supplied torx driver. I like that you can just wrap the USB-C cable around the drive and tuck it into the enclosure. Don't hesitate to consider this enclosure and I certainly would not be put off by buying the M.2 NVMe separately and installing it!!

Small and durable.
Bought this to upgrade my external storage on my PS5. Using 1tb NVME PCIe Gen3x4 m.2 and this case is rugged and keeps stick cool. Been playing Destiny 2 which is a PS4 game, so playing from m.2 and when I touch it, it's cool. I highly recommend for external storage on the go. With attached USB-C you never have to worry about where your cable is at. It doesn't come with USB adapter for 3.1 ports.its small and light weight. I used notebook paper to show size to give an idea. Does come with little satchel to carry it. The heatsink does its job and the rubber around it feels like it can take a bump.

Eh
The screws (especially the internal one) is made of super soft metal. Even trying to unscrew the case, the screw heads (hex) would shred and wear out so the tool would just spin freely in the hole now created in the screw head. Go with a better brand.

NOT a Rugged Enclosure
This is a perfectly functional NVMe hard drive enclosure. It certainly LOOKS sturdy, but that is mostly just a bulky silicone rubber cover.Access to install a drive is through an aluminum cover plate that is secured with 6 screws. Upon removal, it's immediately clear that this is an easy entry point for dust and moisture. There's no gasket, and the and the screws go directly into plastic supports posts with no threaded sleeve inserts. This means that the screws are just cutting their own threads into soft plastic, so if you overtorque them slightly, or just take apart the case more than a couple of times, the cover is going to get loose. The enclosure did not come with a standoff or drive mounting screws, which actually turned out to be a problem because it seems SSDs have ALSO stopped coming with those. Ended up having to order a separate PC case screw kit before I could put the thing together. It works fine as an enclosure; not difficulty connecting, and speeds seem reasonable. I do like that the cable is built-in, and there aren't many options if you want that particular feature. The "rugged" case does make it quite large relative to most SSD enclosures. It slightly thicker, the same length, and 2/3 the width of an old WD Passport 2.5" portable HDD.
