The mittens serve their purpose for preventing that and teething as well. My only problem was, they don't stay on his hands. I would come after 10 min and find both of them off his hands to the point I lost one for a while. He is only 5 months so basically all he does is move around a lot. It's not like he is pulling them off! So for them to come off every single time means either the sizing is not good or the latch doesn't hold up very well. Size wise, they’re a little big for a 3 month old. The shape of them makes them easier to chew on (I assume). I also assume they are easy to clean as there are so many methods of doing so. My only qualm was that the ones I received were dirty. There were no stains or anything but there was thick dark hair on them. I get that quality control may have missed something but my brain had a fit. I wash everything before giving things to my kids.
