Great Re-Issue
Last November 2011 when Mi Carino was first issued I was a bit disappointed with the plot and character development. So not the case with the new reissue of the novel. Mi Carino - Risky Love is a definite improvement from the first release. There was an actual plot, suspense, romance, broken hearts, trust issues, and did I mention the heavy crazy love scenes? From the beginning you are swept away by the intense alpha personality of Diego. Very alpha male, dominate, and chauvinistic Diego is not your usual typical romantic hero. In fact he is anything of the sort. However, the author questions whether it is possible to love a man like Diego who has a dark past that continues to shadow his decisions. Trust and love two items that cement a growing relationship and two items that Marcella finds lacking with Diego. Ms. Mynx pushes the envelope again with creating an alpha male that is intense and sweeps both the main character and reader away with his masculinity. Marcella the main heroine of story tries her best to understand her dark lover by sacrificing her own personality, goals, friends, and even her career to satisfy his desires. Undergoing extreme highs and lows with the affair Marcella is thrown into a corner that forces her to reexamine her relationship with Diego and determine whether sacrificing her independence is a risk worth taking. The ending will have you speechless and dying to read volume II to see whether this couple makes it or not.

Pretty Good Reading
Yes there have been some liberties taken from the plot of 9 1/2 weeks but I think the author took the base line and then made it her own. This is an interesting story of love, control and dependence that begs the question - how much will you sacrifice for love? The female protagonist of the story Marcella needs a bit more development and I'm hoping to see that in the next book because she was a little one note in this story. I mean there's not much growth that appears to happen between her last relationship with Richard (which is brought up a lot in this book) and the relationship she has with Diego. I didn't enjoy the fact that she didn't learn any lessons from her past relationship and once again threw herself what appears to be from the frying pan into the fire. It's not until the end that I finally start to like her character. As for Diego - I love to read about Alpha men with problems that can only be fixed by the love of a good woman. But, when the Alpha crosses over to murdering people and being all undercover crime boss and the scene between him and his mother was the grosses thing I've ever read, it just leaves me kind of cold. I don't condone violence and I certainly don't see that type of behavior as romantic even if it doesn't occur between the two protagonists. I think a male character can be very alpha without having to be a thug - not cute. But, overall I did enjoy some of the dynamics that took place between Diego and Marcella as she tried to pull him over to her side a bit and he resisted - the last scene between the two of them was great.I would recommend this book as it is an interesting story that will provoke a lot of feelings and questions. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Great story!
Mi Carino is not a romance, and the lead characters are not your typical hero and heroine found in romance stories. Marcella was a very sweet art director who fell in love with Diego. Diego was an ex-Colombian drug cartel hitman turned businessman that fell in obsessive lust with Marcella. This book tells the first half of their mis-matched story. Not only will you love witnessing their tumultuous relationship blossom and fade, but you will enjoy how well written and engaging this story is. Despite the often disturbing glimpse of the darker side of sex and love that this story portrays, this author continues to bring her signature dramatic fiction, with a heavy dose of HOTNESS! I loved this book, and would recommend to anyone who can deal with the heavier and darker side of relationships.
