After talking to Farouk about the two flat irons I have both having issues I was flabbergasted when they told me that " Their products are not to be sold on the internet and if purchased that way it voids the warranty!" I don't know how they can do that legally but it is even written on the insert in the box. One that I purchased had the plug plastic shatter exposing the wires. The other just stopped working and they would not cover either. I certainly got an education in this matter. The model GF1001 if made in the USA is a counterfeit if made in China it is authentic. I initially purchased two and just found out one is authentic and the other is not. I ordered a new one to replace the one that had the problem with the plug and the nNoteew one is counterfeit. It's hit or miss but no matter what even if it is authentic they WILL NOT warranty it. I am actually researching the legal aspect of not warranting it if purchased on line. The state of CA has very rigid consumer laws and I have a hunch they are violating them. I have had this same straightener for almost 9 years and it is still going strong. I use it almost everyday and it hasn't failed me yet. I have naturally curly/wavy/frizzy hair so I use it to tame the curls and frizz and get a textured messy look. I have used it to do stick straight hair and to get tighter curls but my favorite way to use it is to do the textured waves. This brand is high quality, leaves a smooth finish and doesn't damage your hair (obviously it will if you leave it on too long and burn it- you just have to get the hang of it to know what works for you) Any age can use it, so its a great buy for a middle schooler or teenager that wants to find their own style and do quick touch ups to their hair or fix it up for big events. Its slim and light so its not too hard to hold in your hand while you fix your hair and it fits in a suit case easily. the black color is esthetically pleasing but i do think they have some other fun colors to choose from. It is very simple to use- just an on/off switch- and then you wait for the red light to stop blinking (about 60 seconds) and you know its ready to use.
