The entire presentation, techniques and information are essential to the beginning, or even advanced, classical guitarist that needs a refresher course. I enjoyed Vol. 1 and dove right into Vol. 2.Parkening wastes no time in Vol. 2 as the book is intelligently divided into two parts: 1) Technique 2) Repertoire . You are playing meaningful and recognizable melodies right out of the gate and when you advance to the Repertoire section you begin building momentum. There is not a physical CD, but a link (Audio Access) to the MP3 downloads so you can play along. This allows you to learn the right moves for both left and right hand. There are a lot of this exercises. Maybe they look a little boring but believe me, they are essential for your progress.There are several pages about different guitar techniques like sound production, music history, composers for guitar, performance notes, advanced bar techniques, special effects, slur technique, performance anxiety (!), etc.. There are many black and white pictures illustrating the text.An audio CD is included in this special edition. You can consider this CD as your personal teacher who lets you hear how the music should be played.
