DEWALT DW7026 Miter Saw Stand Carry Strap

In fairness, I would have rated this 3.5 stars if possible and I do recommend this item as a very helpful accessory for the Dewalt series of stands it is designed for. However, buyers should be aware of exactly what they are getting prior to purchase. First, the actual strap is not what I would consider heavy duty and the padding is lacking, about what you would expect from a strap for a medium duffle Bag. I have a similar concern with the mounting hardware that must be installed on the stand. I suspect Dewalt made this strap lightweight be design, but that certainly isn't reflected in the MSRP and I'm not confident when using it with the larger 723 stand. My second issue is that a separate strap must be purchased for each stand, it can not be swapped between stands for those who own different models. The strap comes with installation hardware that must be permanently mounted to a particular stand, and is not sold separately. For anyone with more than one stand, which isn't unusual considering the difference between the models, this means a separate strap must be purchased for each stand rather than just purchasing the hardware kit for (what should be) a couple bucks. For someone spending money on multiple Dewalt stands this seems unreasonable.

I purchased this strap when I also got the DEWALT DWX724 Compact Miter Saw Stand. In my opinion, the strap is a necessary accessory, something you should count on buying when you get the smaller DeWalt stands. The description of the stands makes it sound like a child could carry them. Not so. While not as heavy as a pancake compressor, they are not light when carrying them over any distance. The strap allows you to carry the weight on your shoulder where it is much more comfortable and also allows you to then use your hand to carry another item.... maybe your DeWalt reciprocating saw case! The strap comes with an installation "kit", which amounts to a couple of bolts, nuts, washers and swivel mounts. The stands are already pre-drilled to allow the install. The strap is sturdy, fully adjustable and includes a shoulder pad. The pad is sewn in place, it does not slide like pads on other straps. When installed, the strap hangs down below the stand when the legs are opened. When using the strap to carry the stand, the stand is carried upside down just as you would if you used the carry handle. The strap connects to the swivel mounts with clips, the same as you find on shoulder tote bags, so it can be removed when not in use. Even if you feel you would have no problem carrying the stands using the built-in handle, I suggest you get the strap as another option for transporting. For those of you who care, the strap is made in China but as always it is made to DeWalt high standards.

Makes carrying my work stand easy. Looks like it may get in the way, when the stand is set up, but I could easily remove the strap if that happens.
