It came double boxed with foam encapsulating the igniter. If you've ever ordered one it may have arrived broken due to poor packaging. Igniters are extremely fragile and I was glad to see the care taken.

I wrote customer service to make sure that it worked with my older Westinghouse gas stove. They confirmed it was the correct replacement part. It was a perfect fit. Easy replacement. I would definitely buy again.

My old Kenmore oven stopped working. Reading online I determined the igniter was the fault. I inspected the igniter, went to Amazon found this one/it looked like mine/ So I bought it. 20 minutes later I was cooking! Oven would not warm up. The gas burners worked. The broiler still worked (suggesting it was not a control board problem). YouTube helped me with removing the old igniter. The tag on the old igniter led me here. This was the exact one I had in the oven for over a decade. Replacing it was just reversing the process. 10 minutes later, oven back in working order!

I learned a little about my oven problem on one of those sites that have videos and tools to help you through your own repair. I was pretty sure the ignitor is what I needed. I was ready to purchase their part for $81.00, but before I did that I did a final search using the provided OEM number. I found this item at Amazon for less than a quarter of the price. And it was in the write up on Amazon that confirmed this was the part I needed due to a description of my oven's exact symptoms. Sure enough the part came, delivered earlier than promised, and within one hour and using only two hand tools, my oven was up and running again.

After doing some research online as to why our oven wasn't working, we determined that it was the ignitor. We were shocked to see that this part cost about $100-120 to order from parts stores. We were just as surprised to find this generic one here on Amazon for about $20. We have a Kenmore 790-78782406 Range, and I wondered if this ignitor would work on it. I posted the question and got a very quick response from the seller. We ordered this ignitor on a Wednesday and it was delivered on Saturday, which was a pleasant surprise since I thought it would take about a week to get (we live in California). My husband installed it and it works great! Some things to keep in mind are: The ignitor itself is inside the metal holder. That was something that confused me because this ignitor looks different than the one that we took out of my oven. But actually, the ignitor that is inside the metal holder is exactly the same as the one we took out of our oven. It's just the metal holder that's different. We took the ignitor out of this metal holder and put it in the metal holder that came out of our oven, then we installed it back into our oven. Another thing is, our original ignitor had a clip plug on the end that plugged into a socket in our oven. This new ignitor just has open wires. So we had to cut off the clip plug from our original ignitor and splice it to the wires on this new ignitor using the wire nuts that were included. The only other concern that I had was about the quality of this ignitor. My oven is 12 years old, so the original ignitor has lasted for 12 years. I wondered if this new generic ignitor would last just as long. I saw on another post that said that this generic ignitor lasted about 5 years. Time will tell how long it lasts and how well it performs. But as for now, it's working great!

Our oven was lost, and with this new igniter now it is found. And the wife is happy.
