To mark the 250th anniversary of his pioneering expedition, The Royal Mint has issued the second coin design in a unique three-coin series celebrating Captain Cook. This is the second coin in the series with the final coin due to be issued in 2020. The inventive design creates one part of a much larger picture and when all three coins are placed next to each other, the stunning design can be seen as a whole. This is the first time Captain Cook has appeared on UK coinage and the exquisite design will eventually line up to depict Cook’s famous ship, HM Bark Endeavour. The £2 coin has been struck to a superior Brilliant Uncirculated quality, and has also been protectively encapsulated in official Change Checker packaging to guarantee the quality.
