I think this book would be better suited for someone who didn't know if they had PPD and they were trying to figure it out. early on in the process. For someone who knows they have it and has already been diagnosed, it's the same old same old. "Here's what PPD is. Here's a theory on why it occurs. Here's some things to do to stave it off/ lessen it if you have it. Here's a chapter for your husband. Here's a chapter on recovery."The only chapter that was helpful was the recovery chapter BUT I was already fully into the third stage of recovery, so the only helpful thing I found was learning about the "false recovery" stage when you first start to get better. When I went through the 2nd stage, I had a feeling it was the "false recovery", but it was nice to have that suspicion validated.Personal opinion is that you can skip this purchase and just Google.Based on the title, I was hoping for something more... sympathetic? in helping me? I didn't understand all the emotions and feelings I was having. Reading this book gave me coping mechanisms and helped me recognize my thought process. I felt hopeful and could really relate to everything the author wrote about. I felt validated and completly normal. So far it just seems like its an adjustment issue and like some people think everything should just be smooth sailing in every way after having a baby. Thats just not how life is. Its ok to have some issues adjusting to having a baby. Its a big change in every way. Let yourself learn and grow and get used to it even have issues accepting it for a while.
