## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the front rest be taken off the whole body of the sled or is it attached on there?want the option of just using the front rest at the range.thnks**
A: Yes the front portion can seperately from the sled and makes a decent , adjustable rest with the use of a secondary squeeze bag or rear bag set up.

**Q: does this help reduce recoil**
A: Yes if you weight it down. I use two 25 lb bags of lead shot, the recoil is barely noticeable from my 30-06 to my shoulder. The muzzle will still jump when fired which causes you to readjust your sights on target, but recoil is significantly reduced

**Q: Has anyone used this sled with an AR 30 round mag?**
A: I used it with a Magpul 30rd mag in my AR but it was very close to the back height adjustment knob. I also would say it would depend a lot on the butt stock you are using. I have a Troy CQB Battle Axe and used a piece of foam to help tighten the stock into the rear bracket. There is adjustment on the knob for three positions but I have mine positioned to accept both rifles I use the rest for.

**Q: Will an AR15 style rifle with detachable magazine fit in this sled?**
A: 5 to 10 round magazine yes, depending on the elevation that you are shooting at. 30 round mags, no, tried this last weekend and since I only own 30 rounders I was forced to hand load each round. Granted this type of bench rest is designed primarily for bolt action style hunting rifles, and in that respect it has performed flawlessly with my Remington 700 .308, sighted it in with 3 shots. If you are planning on using this with anything that uses detachable box mags, the fit will be hit or miss depending on mag capacity and firearm design, but if that is your primary weapon, I would advise finding a sled that is specifically designed for that type of weapon.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Rifle Rest for the Money
*by J***H on February 19, 2015*

You will be surprised at how heavy and sturdy this thing is. The level adjusters are spiked on the bottom so it bites into the wooden bench top to keep it anchored when the rifle recoils. Throw a couple of sand bags on the trays to weigh it down and it will tame the heaviest recoiling rifle. Some reviewers have suggested padding the sides of the butt cup to hold the rifle upright, which it does, but it will also make it more difficult to align the rifle horizontally when aiming at the target. As I said, the levelers are spiked, so it doesn't slide around on the bench; you'll need some side-to-side mobility. It's a great value when compared to some of the other similar rifle rests. And the front stand will separate from the rear if you don't want to use the butt cup. It is perfect for the shooter that wants to take recoil out of the equation and just focus on aiming. If you were looking for a good rifle rest for a great price, this is it. I have used it several times for sighting in my rifles and helping my friends with theirs, and being familiar with its quality/value, if I lost it today, I'd buy another one just like it tomorrow.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bad to the Bone
*by O***6 on October 14, 2013*

I bought this for sighting in a rifle. Expected some flimsy shaky lightweight thing after looking at all the 400$ plus rifle rests. Boy was I wrong. This thing is Heavy duty. Had to make a couple adjustments for my Remington 700 30-06 for it to work perfect:1) The end were the stock rests - no way to adjust it to hold the stock tight so I just cut off a piece of a foam camp mat and wedged it in there. Works like a charm.2) The end bean bag rest were the fore grip of the rifle goes I bought a 24 inch strip of Velcro to wrap around the bag and the rifle to hold it down during shooting. Works like a champ.A couple things to note that you might want to consider:1) When you first get it assembled and it feels all shaky - turn all the big hand screws a couple times and then lock them down with the green nuts and it goes from wobbly to a rock solid chunk of steel.2) those feet that have the spike on the ends. Those are some real spikes so don't sit this thing on your wife's wooden kitchen table then try to scoot it around as they will carve trenches in the wood and you will be stuck with an angry wife like me.3) This thing is heavy. My 10 year old can barely lug this beast out to the truck. While shooting my 30-06 I didn't need any extra sandbags to weight it down. There was some movement of the rifle after each shot but only because all it has holding the rifle to the rest is a strip of Velcro and a foam mat, NOT because the bench moves.I would recommend this to a friend. I did and he ordered one also.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far it seems better than my other rest
*by D***R on January 8, 2014*

For many many years I had an adjustable front rest that is not one of those hundreds of dollar kind but was very stable and had very smooth adjustments. Then I was given a gift of one of the other brands that claims to absorb all recoil which it did and was so stable that you could fire multiple shots using a syringe device to pull the trigger so that you take human error out of it. Well I guess you could do that for one shot but the front support used a pretty small bolt that took some effort to make it stable. Adjusting it was a pain because everything was kind of loose. So I just used it to suppress the recoil and used the play to force it to the POI I was shooting at. I was sold on the idea but not that actual rest for which the shortcomings made me long for something different.Well this is what I chose. I had some concern with the negative comments but still felt for this good price it still would be better than what I had. So far I think it is. It was not the easiest thing to put together but all my parts went together well and it feels pretty solid including the front rest. After a lot of research into accurate shooting I really do not feel the need to strap the gun down as that has more potential to screw up your groupings than help them. The front adjustments seem pretty smooth and solid.I dropped a star for two reasons. The first is that I did not shoot it yet so I cannot say that it is excellent until I have fired a gun off of it. The second is that back support has very little padding or protection for the gun. My gun does not have a wood stock but unless you have some resistance from that tail end moving side to side it is going to be pretty difficult to hold the gun very still. I tried some pipe insulation that seemed to work good enough but they could have come up with something that would be part of the unit. The design is such that it is pretty easy to just use the front rest so perhaps they chose to design it to a minimal standard and let everyone figure out what works best for them. In this one area my other rest is much better. Not sure why the one post is so concerned about the pointy ends of the screws. For one they are supposed to be pointy and second of all you can screw it up enough so that it is inside the frame where it will not touch what you lay it on. Given that the front rest is pretty nice and the whole unit costs about the same as other front rests I do not think that you really could go wrong with this but I will report more once I shoot off of it. My other rest seemed perfect until I tried to shoot off of it.
