How well does the buckle hold, does it slip loose?

I have always found it holds well. I wear mine every day.

Is this canvas stiff or is it stretchy? I need a stretchy belt.

It's made of a material that has a very small amount of stretch but the belt can be opened right out to a very large size. Due to its design you don't need to punch any holes in it etc. You just clamp it closed at the correct size and it'll stay like that until you open the latch. I didn't need anywhere near the maximum size of the belt so just left the belt wrap around me 1.5 times (or so) with the overhang passed through the belt loops on my pants.
