Miller Weld Mask 2 Auto-Darkening Goggles

Excellent

All around a pretty good pair of goggles. The plastic face guard is in fact removable, and a bit cheap for the price but with what it's designed to do it works adequately. The goggles themselves have two sensors in the top right and top left of the goggles themselves, which unfortunately sometimes cause them to flash and other such things if in a really awkward position, however it's fairly uncommon. They have many of the problems most Auto-Darkening helmets do, mainly the turning on with certain lighting or with flashing lights, which makes them a little difficult to use them for what I got them which is general shop goggles that don't go dark until you're welding or grinding, but it's a small gripe.

The color is great, not the blue/white of current fad but a more yellow-orange which shows more puddle clarity and less arc brightness. However, the product is useless in any condition where you need a face mask. It flickers on and off constantly, like a strobe. After emailing Miller, I replaced the batteries in the first one I bought...which didn’t help. I exchanged it for a brand new one at the LWS and this one flickers, too...even worse. Both in the field and at the shop. Terrible. I use cutting goggles with a singles auto lens dropped in for those crazy spots. Works fine, it’s just a bit annoying. The miller face mask would be better, if it performed. I really tried with this thing, multiple shutdowns, multiple plants, failed 100% of the time when it was needed, both the first and second one. Been a big miller fan but I think they are slipping. Going red.
