## Description

Vacum Breaker Kit A/S Ff

Review: Wow - Life is not easy and this part if not correct can waste some life. - First wanted to thank Elaine K for the 14-Jul-2015 Review. This reasonably assured me I had the correct part (Vacum Breaker Kit A/S Ff byMueller B & K). Hopefully more details and pictures will help others to not have the same trouble. This also saved me from replacing the entire faucet. I bought my Mueller silcock from home depot probably about 15 years ago. Mine is a Mueller you can see the big sideways "M" with an upside down triangle above it in the picture. The front view (red dial) may be the model number? I found that for my faucet the ProLine 888-576HC part was correct and functioned perfectly. When you remove the old part you will see that the threads on the plastic piece do not go all the way to the bottom. There is a flat, narrower, piece of the tube that has no threads. The threads may be a good way to identify the correct part. This part, fit in my faucet and came in the bag labeled 888-576HC. The part bag labeled 888-183 did not fit. This part has threads all the way down to the bottom of the tube that screws into the faucet. The threads were slightly larger and absolutely would not screw in to my faucet. I tried for about 45 minutes before giving up after realizing I was not cross threading the piece. The person from home depot handed me this 888-183 part very quickly when I stated what I needed. This made me feel that it was the correct part. I also figured the part that home depot was selling would be the correct part because I bought it there. Wrong! Afterwards, I saw online, that they do not stock the Mueller part. My symptoms - I noticed over the last five or so years that I was getting water weeping out of the top cap on the faucet (silcock). I ignored it because it was not too bad and it only leaked when I was using the faucet. This year however it was a slow but steady stream of water escaping. I attached a picture of the old plastic piece that mounts in the faucet. The black washer faces up. You can see in my picture that the rubber is hard and cracked. This is what was most likely causing the leak and tightening the pieces will not fix this. This piece is the same in both parts I tried. You may be able to just replace the rubber washer or this part and fix your leak. There were others that posted they bought the wrong part but used only this plastic and black washer piece to correct the issue. Other advice do not use tools to tighten this piece or try to fix the leak by tightening. Try just hand tightening when installing or lightly tighten if you do not have a strong grip. The plastic will snap easily. I used some teflon tape around the threads that mate to the faucet, like others have suggested. I did not notice any from the factory and it may not be needed.
Review: Perfect fit for ASSE 1019A - Look at the pictures I posted. If your dimensions match then, Do your research, not just read reviews, also read answers, post a question, if you need to, Then get this. I learned the hard way that breaking this thing, is like having pain behind your ear lobe :D It's real bad and you must fix it correctly or it will keep coming back.. I had to go through 3 different ones before finding the right one. Because at this time of writing, there are no vendors or products that tell you the exact height, thread size etc. HD and Lowes, both stated if it's a generic, "may be I can find a definite match" at Builder supply store. But unless you have a pro account, I don't think you can get anything from those stores. Anyway after getting two different Anti Siphon Sillcock replacements (one costed more, another less) and Several answers later I purchased it. Unless there is a clear picture of the product and it doesn't look like yours - avoid it. Even if it says ASSE 1019A it may not match. Check for the inner diameter. One thing though.. if only your vaccum breaker broke (the small piece, which looks like a crown - if kept upside down |U|U|U|U|U| and has a plastic dot. That is what breaks away, that piece is same across several of these) you can use that to replace your breaker and just throw away the rest. However, I would not recommend, because if your breaker broke and the thing started leaking, chances are the outer part that holds the breaker into your sillcock body, would also break soon as plastic ages out. So it's better to get the right size, and replace the whole thing. In my case as you see in pictures it was ASSE 1019A. The sillcock with thread dia was very close to 20 mm and has a small neck after threads end, that's where its about 18mm. Hope that helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wrong size but worked anyway
*by R***L on May 28, 2023*

Ordering these parts is hit or miss regarding the size. The outer body didn't fit (threaded part too small) but the inner part with the rubber gasket looked like an identical match so I swapped it in and... Works perfectly. At least for now.
