A long handle is preferred.** A: I bought the DG-AEH (Seymour Item: 63009) long 1 ΒΎ inch handle to fit the Seymour 2E-G60 Grub Hoe Head with a 1 ΒΎ inch eye. It almost worked. The handle was slightly too narrow and the head slides about ΒΌ inch beyond the end of the handle. This will get worse with time I measured these two things to see what was wrong. The head's eye tapers from 1 11/16 inch down to 1 ⅝ inch. The working end of the handle has a diameter of 1 ⅝ inch. My conclusion: The handle is defective. If it was 1 ΒΎ inch as described on the manufacturer's website, it would be perfect. I wonder if the seller or manufacturer would consider sending me a new correct diameter handle? Otherwise this tool will never get used. **Q: What is the length and width?** A: The blade on my Seymour 2E-60 Grub Hoe Head measures about 4- 7/16" wide and about 6- 3/8" long. The length was measured from the end of the blade to the underside of the handle ring. It worked really well for spot areas removing roots, but not something you can use for large areas. The dimensions are taken from behind the handle, not just blade area. So be careful. It is light enough for a smaller person to raise and strike with adequate force, it can do some real damage to roots if you keep it sharp enough. It does come with a screw to fasten to your handle, I don't use it because I'd like to use one handle for two heads. I would recommend this tool for anyone that does gardening or needs a specialized tool for removing roots, tilling soil and or clearing out swales of sediment.
