This- Great ! the 5-1 sensor - eh....
This works great! Very easy to swap out with the old one. I gave it a 5 star cause it seems to work fine and as described. But my actual AcuRite 5 in 1 outdoor sensor unit has never worked right. I was hoping this would help. I have watched all their videos, spent hours calibrating it over the last year and half. and yet I just cant get it to read rain correctly. From day one right out of the box it was reading rain at about 60% more than actual, I think now im like at 25% more, but 3 months ago when I messed with it I was reading 30% less than actual. Oh and it just randomly chooses when to end the rain total for the day. I thought it was at 12AM, but sometimes it resets during a storm in the middle of the day, sometimes I see the over night rain total then at 9 am its at 0.0 I had a 3-1 for years and it worked great, I was so looking forward to this one and its been a flop. So, While this upgrade works great, if you get your 5-1 sensor and its not working correctly, dont do what I did and wait around, call them or take it back and get one that works.

Wow - that was easy to replace
I have had the AcuRite weather station since 2013. It has weathered two hurricanes and has worked well for many years. However, the wind speed meter (anemometer) was showing its age. I contemplated replacing the entire unit until I discovered that I could replace just the anemometer sensor. This replacement part includes both the wind cups as well as a solar panel that powers a small internal fan. I believe the small internal fan contributes to the ambient temperature accuracy. After receiving the part, I followed the directions, and the replacement was fairly quick. I am hopeful that I can get another 11 years of use out of the unit. If not, I will certainly replace it with another AcuRite.

An excellent upgrade.
If you have an older Acurite Iris weather station, this is a really good upgrade. Our older model was still working, but it was making noise, and was significantly sun-damaged -- not a surprise at all, it's been out in the high UV desert sun for years. The new part was very easy to install. I'd suggest that the instructions remind you to change the unit batteries while you've got it down, and are taking it apart. I wish I had.

Value is based on rater
Replaced an identical unit that had one of the anemometer cups knocked off by hail. Subsequently the outside temp module began recording the temp as - 49. I could have replaced the temp module but what else would have failed. The original unit is 2+ years old. New unit took a long time to resync with base unit. Took 4 + hours to resync. Working well now. Outside temp is 98 now. Word to wise. The base display has a battery backup capability and probably needs to have batteries in it in case power does go out. Two days after my unit acquired the outside unit I had a total power loss. First one in over a year. My base display unit lost all its data and I had to reset all the settings. Probably wouldn't have occurred if I had batteries in backup slots. All things considered I think it is a good value for the money.. Read other comments that said the price of $86 was too much (thru Amazon), but compared to the alternatives which cost a lot more this unit is worth the price I paid.

Great Value. Easy Upgrade. Just in time for todays record 112° heat!!
After noticing my temps falsly rising lately and finding the circulation fan not running it was time for a new outdoor unit. Then I found this upgrade. Perfect! Easy changeout. Solved my bad fan motor bearing issue and gives more solar power through the entire day. My unit has been up for 4yrs and was yellowing badly (pic1). After some light sanding, masking, and painting it looks new again and works better than ever. Inside I found dirt in one rain bucket (affecting readings) and numerous spider nests to clear out. ** DO ANNUAL MAINTENANCE ** I will from now on for sure. This upgrade was well worth the cost. Added bonus was opening the unit up for the first time and cleaning it out. Thx to Chaney Instrument Co. !! (I’m KCAMISSI48 on W.U.)

Easily Installed, Better Thermometer Accuracy
My station has been humming along outside in total sunlight for about 3-1/2 years. I took it off the post, removed four screws and opened it up. It had a heavy cake of dirt and grime going on but remarkably no spiders or wasps. I cleaned it up then removed four screws for the top module. The new one fit perfectly and I got it all put back together in minutes. I have wondered how long the spindle or bearings in the anemometer would last so this solved that worry. The temperature readings used to run a little hotter than our TV weather reports, but now they are just slightly cooler than the TV which is what it should be. We are out in the country a little bit, away from big buildings and concrete. If you aren't particularly handy at taking things apart don't worry. As long as you can use a Phillips screwdriver you'll be fine. I've got hand tremors from a spinal injury but I had no problem. One of the screws has to go into a hole that's deep down inside. I worried about that but they cleverly designed the product so that the opening looks like a funnel. The screw can't go the wrong place or get lost. I highly recommend this upgrade for your station.

It works great and fixed the issue
I have been using the Acurite 5 in one Weather station for 4 yrs now and have had an ongoing issue with the unreliable (too high) temperature settings when the station is placed in the sun as it is supposed to be. In addition, Weather Underground continually unlisted me from their site due to the unreliable temperature readings.I was about to purchase a different weather station due to the unreliability of this station when I saw this product. It works great and fixed the issue. I am surprised that Acurite chooses to use a inadequate/fan housing and really doesn't let their customers know that their product does not work when placed in direct sunlight, yet they offer this and it corrects the problem.Anyway, if you are having the same problem I highly recommend adding this to the weather station instead of buying a new one from a different company although given Acurite's lack of information about this product, I can understand it.
