I've become a bit of a collector of hair barrettes. They keep my hair in place and I love the colors acetate provides. This one is a traditional white tokyo tortoise pattern. It is long and thin, the newest style for hair barrettes. I wear plenty of neutrals, and while I had more than one amber tortoise barrette, i didn't have the more neutral cream and brown tortoise. This barrette from French Amie has proven to be a solid choice. I love the construction and solid feel of this barrette. I feel it will last me many years. The mechanism holds my hair well and seems very sturdy. The colors go with most of my wardrobe. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

I love these hair clips. I have medium/thin hair and they work really well to hold my hair in place all day. I get lots of compliments on how they look and love that there are so many different patterns to choose from.

This is a slim, nice quality barrette. I’m going to quickly tell you how to use it to achieve milkmaid braids without a part down the back of your head. Pull your hair into a low, smooth ponytail at the nape of your neck, and fasten it there with this barrette. Then carefully divide the ponytail into two equal parts, and loosely braid each part. Braid as far down as you can, and fasten the very ends with tiny rubber bands. Wrap each braid around your head, taking care that each braid lies as flat and smooth as possible. Tuck the end of each braid under the edge of the other braid, and use a hair pin or bobby pin to secure each end. Then use more pins to fasten the braids together and to your hair so they don’t slide off your head. There you go! No ugly back-of-the-head part! Just smooth hair and a pretty barrette!

My hair is thin and it has held my hair when I wear it up. I plan on looking for 2 shorter ones for the sides as I find the barrette fastens easily. If it was curved more it would hug my head better.

Good product, came back for more! After 4 years of near daily use the clasp of my last one was starting to weaken, so ordered another one. Good value for the use I get. Works great on my long thick hair. I disagree with reviews comparing to drug store barrettes, I’ve never found this length in those brands, and the short ones can’t handle this mane. I used to order a more expensive brand that is very similar to this, and in my opinion these are just as good. I ordered one of both brands this time, and they are comparable, this one saves you $10-12. In my review photos the silver tone one on the right is this brand, the gold tone is the more expensive other brand.
