Bose Home Speaker 300: Bluetooth Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa Built-in, Silver

Amazing sound, so glad I got this!

I hesitated on purchasing based a lot of the reviews, but I am so glad I decided to give it a try. The only con that I have found with this unit is that it is not portable. If Bose could combine the Home Speaker 300 with the portable features of the Revolve Soundlink, that would be an awesome product! Alexa works wonderfully. The Bose Music app is great, especially to control the volume. We use it mostly for streaming movies in the bedroom and it sounds just as good as our full entertainment system with multiple speakers and surround sound. We also use it when we travel. BT and WiFi Connections are easy and I was able to quickly connect to my favorite music streaming platforms through the app. Because it is Alexa enabled, it works flawlessly with my FireTV. I have NOT noticed any delay with the sound, even when watching action movies. The boom is powerful and I just love telling Alexa to ‘pause’ or ‘mute’ without moving a muscle. And finally, the footprint is small and compliments any decor. It’s small enough to easily move around, you just have to make sure there is an outlet nearby. Oh, and other reviewers indicated that it loses connectivity often, but as long as the speaker is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the device with the Bose Music app, I have not had to reconnect since the initial install. One more thing, the app allows you to easily connect to other Bose speakers (including Soundlink speakers) and create a group.

I just think it needs a remote

A Samsung or Apple phone can easily connect and play music through this Bose speaker. But several MP3 players, the newest to older models, "think they connect" to the Bose but the Bose fails to complete the Bluetooth connection - so music is not heard. Bose tech support says "All MP3 players are obsolete and MP3 players can play music with the Bose only by using the RCA AUX connector and pressing then pressing the AUX button on the Bose.Make sure you install the "Bose Music App" on your phone and NOT the "Bose App" which does not work with this speaker.Written set-up directions are NOT included. The app must connect via Bluetooth so you can set-up the WiFi log-in, add Alexa or Google, and finally download the software update through WiFi.It may not seem obvious, but without adding the WiFi login neither the Bose update nor Alexa, Google nor Amazon and other music services will work.Once the app and the Bose speaker are fully set-up, you need to tap on the photo of the Bose speaker on the lower right-hand corner of the screen to access other set-up features or sound EQ.If you need to run set-up again, Press the "Volume Down" button and the "AUX" button at the same time until the Bose flashes and starts the reboot cycle. None of this is explained, but can be found online if you already know what you're looking for - or call Bose Tech Support.Knowing what I now know, I could set-up a new Bose speaker in less than five minutes including the ROM update. But the product comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS to guide you through this process. Why not add a simple instruction book to make this simple?>>> Much better sounding and louder than a 40 watt Bluetooth speaker once it's set up, and fun having Alexa control.But forget about grouping speakers for stereo, Bluetooth connection to MP3 players and other features Bose has not implemented but has apparently promised since 2017 - it's now 2021. And read this review before trying to use it.

Quick shipping, bought for my aunt that has always loved Bose products and has had a Bose Wave system she still uses to this day.I wanted to give her an updated system and decided to get the Bose Home Speaker 300 for her so she can listen to her music through Apple Music. Gave it to her at Thanksgiving and she loves the sound. I got her a Bose product due to the simplicity of buttons since she is not very tech savvy.Great gift for friends or family that love listening to music. I ended up getting the Bose portable speaker for myself.

We purchased this speaker to replace one that I wore out (the bass started to break up). As soon as I set this unit up I was so pleased. The quality of the sound and the clarity of the bass and treble is fantastic.I had one problem in set up. I contacted Bose support. They were wonderful and took all the time necessary. As it turns out the problem was not with Bose, it was with my Apple phone. Note to future buyers - if the phone app does not work as supposed to shut down your phone and start over. The problem I had was my phone! I highly recommend the Bose speaker. One problem ... the speaker ability to play quality sounds at loud volumes far exceeds that which my wife allows me to play. The house walls shake when she is not home!
