Loved everything about this basket!
Just disregard all the negative reviews and take the plunge. I'm glad I did because this is an outstanding product, well made and built to last. The mount works perfect and does not sag when installed correctly. I believe my handle bar was slightly smaller than the mount was intended for and I was using the smallest of the two sizes of clamps included. I was able to tighten the four screws tight enough to have a firm grip on the handle bar, but that is NOT what keeps the mount from drooping down. It is the little wire cable that goes under the goose neck that you install and tighten that takes the full weight of the pet. The harder you try to push the mount down the tighter the cable becomes which keeps it from sagging which is why it can hold at least 15 lbs. Very heavy duty high quality cloth/canvas basket material with a 1/4" heavy duty chrome outer support ring. Also has two elastic netted storage compartments on the outside of the basket for leashes, doggie bags, water etc. Very simple to detach from mount and carry with you with the included carry strap that snaps on the basket if needed. Couldn't have found a better way to take our small dog with us on bike rides! She loves it as much as we do.

Ruined a family trip
Ordered this basket for my 5lb shorkie. Had it installed by the local bike shop (per user recommendation) once it came in and had it double checked by my husband once I got it home.Tested it out by using it to hold a 10lb backpack during a ride and once we felt confident it would be safe for our dog, we started on a few, short bike rides with my dog to get her accustomed to it. It took us a little while to work with her and get her used to it and during that time, the return policy expired. But we didn't mind because we felt confident of its safety.Did one last trial run of 4 miles before our day trip with family to Mackinac Island and the basket was perfect. Safe, reliable, and best part? My baby was happy in it and loved it.Got to the island and started our ride around its circumference. Reached mile 4 when all of the sudden the plastic/metal that holds the basket to the bike snapped (the only things in the basket at the time was my 5lb dog, her small fleece blanket, a roll of poo bags, her leash, and her plastic water bowl- so everything weighed, at most, 8lbs: well within the 15lb limit). The basket went hurdling to the asphalt and my dog, clipped to the basket, was sent hurdling down as well. She fell hard and was sent rolling across the asphalt because of the force (thank the lord she ended up being okay). The whole thing completely snapped and broke with no way to fix it, even after we got home. And because we were essentially stranded to the spot with only our bikes and no way to transport her, my husband had to bike the 4 miles back to the town to rent a $40 tow-behind carrier so we would be able to get around with our dog.Meanwhile, I waited behind with my dog where I was shortly greeted by a state police officer who thought I had been biking around the island carrying my dog in one arm and holding on to the bike with the other- which is not allowed because "per Michigan law, both arms must be accessible blah blah blah..." (my husband had the basket with him in his backpack so I wouldn't have to carry it while dealing with walking a dog and trying to push a bike at the same time.So after having my license checked and repeatedly explaining that I was not indeed holding my dog with one arm while biking (even though I had no evidence to support the fact because, again, my husband had the basket with him), I narrowly avoided ticket (no joke), my husband finally arrived with the rented trailer after I had waited, with the cop, for him to bike the 8 miles. The cop insisted on waiting with me to ensure I wouldn't be "stranded". But really it was to make sure I wasn't lying or trying to pull some other sort of falsehood. Finally got the dog loaded in the trailer and then finished the remaining 4 miles with my dog yapping and howling the entire ride in the trailer because we had spent 2 months getting her used to a bike basket and not a freaking bike trailer.Absolutely horrible experience. Completely ruined what should have been a fun day with family. We checked the basket before and after each ride and only used it after thorough testing. My dog is my baby, so it's not as if I would use something I'm not 100% certain of in its safety.

This is the only basket I found that works great. It was a little pricey but worth it
This is the only basket I found that works great. It was a little pricey but worth it. I carry my 10 pd long haired chihuahua in it. She loves going with my husband and I on our bike rides. We do alot of camping and bring our bikes and hate to leave her in the trailer. The basket hooks on and off very easily. I did have to do alittle experimentation with rolled up towels on the sides and front to make her comfortable inside because there is plenty of room. Nice zippered pocket on the front for my cell phone and side pocket for her leash. Went for short rides in the beginning for our dog to get use to it but now we go on 4 to 6 mile rides. This is not for someone who wants to get a full bike workout because you do have to go slower than you might normally ride because the extra weight in the front can shift when the dog is changing position or when making sharper turns but worth it because our dog hates being left behind and is very spoiled.

It is fairly easy to install but the directions are confusing
First off, don't bother with the instructions - just watch a you tube video. It is fairly easy to install but the directions are confusing. My package arrived with only 1 screw when 4 are required. It is a particular size and I did not have the proper type in my toolbox. Unfortunately I had the basket shipped to myself on vacation because I was flying and could not bring it on the plane so it was a problem but I made it work. Ultimately Amazon made it right. Yes if properly installed this basket works! My dog is 13 pounds and the basket did not drag on the front wheel. You do have to angle it up slightly though FYI. Only giving 4 stars because it seems like pieces missing are a common thread. If you need this basket for a special event, order in advance and check to make sure everything is there as soon as it arrives. There should be (2) choices for u shaped handle bar clips, 4 screws, a wire, the mounting device, and the basket.

Five Stars
Excellent product, easy to install and very sturdy. My 3.5 month old Shih poo loves going for rides already.

Suits us
Just right for our Westie, though inserted thin plywood base into the pocket underneath to reinforce it. Used it as an over the shoulder carrier bag with me walking first while our puppy got used to it and the traffic.

Bike attachment doesn't work
The basket itself is fine, however the method of attaching to the bike is a disaster. The plastic handlebar clamps splay out, making it almost impossible to remove and reattach the basket. The whole assembly makes use of a piece of wire to hold up the basket when the dog is in it. Be prepared to stop every half hour and readjust the wire clamps - the wire stretches, causing the basket to tilt forward.

Love it. Only problem is the cable - the screwhead that holds it snapped off.Changed to 2 star: the basket itself is good quality, but the attachment to the bike is a royal mess. The screwhead that held the cable sheared, but I thought it was okay because the cable was in place and was to support the weight. That's not the case - the plastic that goes around the handlebars cracked and spread, causing the basket to sag and rub against the tires. The plastic attachment is worthless, I don't know how they thought this would hold for any length of time. It failed while we were out camping and my husband used some clamps and a zip tie to try to hold it. That failed too, so in order to make it to back to our campsite we had to rope it on. This is way overpriced for plastic parts. I'd consider it again if they make the attachment out of metal or a more durable material. If not, then I'd only recommend this product for toy dogs up to 5 pounds maximum, but then the basket is too big and the dog wouldn't be able to look out if it wanted to.
