A first surface mirror or front surface mirror is a mirror with the reflective surface being above a backing, as opposed to the conventional, second surface mirror with the reflective surface behind a transparent substrate such as acrylic. This first surface mirror has an 1/8" acrylic substrate. Pen not included with mirror. The first surface mirror will ship with a protective backing on the front and back to prevent damage during shipping and handling.

Good but not great mirror
The Mirror comes with a protective film on the mirrored surface and is generally performs as expected.The mirror is first surface but since it is on acrylic the mirror coating has significant ripples throughout (aka orange peel). This is most noticeable when looking at the the mirror surface at reading distance and with a high contrast reflection. Changing the distance from your eye and lowering the contrast will diminish the prominence of the rippled surface.It will work well for most hobby applications but does not compare to a first surface glass mirror.
