John Rutter Songbook

I really enjoy everything that John Rutter composes or rearranges. Ethereal! I had the wonderful experience of traveling to England with my local church choir and joining 17 other church choirs from all around the USA to be tutored by David Flood (Canterbury) and Michael Harris (St. Giles). We sang several John Rutter pieces during that time. Our Yakima Symphony Chorus has also sung quite a few of his pieces.

John Rutter is an amazing composer and conductor. There is not one composition that does not lift the soul and spirit to a new high. I cannot praise this recording and his others enough!..Listen to the lyrics and you will know why.

Fell in love with The Shepherds Pipe Carol and bought this CD. The two discs are filled with beautiful music all arranged by John Rutter. Those he wrote are also beautiful. I have recommended it to friends, some of whom are singers.

This is the one CD I have in my Odyssey...enough variety to keep us calm in traffic.

This compilation is perfect. The songmaster's works on one disc, Christmas selections, including some Rutter pieces on the other. It is a joy to hear.

Our choir sings a lot of John Rutter music, and I love them all. He is a master!

As usual, John Rutter did not disappoint. Beautiful music and the arrangements are extraordinary.

On Sunday Lunchtime way back In the 50's I had a weekly appointment with my Grandfather Post Mass and a lot of the tracks on this CD, (90%) I listened to and In fact buried my Mum to my favourite, THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU.I always find It strange that I enjoy right across the Genres, but this guys Music touches me where others don't. This Isn't all about John Rutter though this CD Is as much about The Cambridge Singers and The London Symphonia and Bach Choir, all of who perm superbly.

Marked down not because of the content but the quality of the discs, and frustrating issues with Amazon call centre and policy.For the second time we have encountered faulty disc 1 of 2 in box. 'Chatted' last night to someone who arranged another replacement and return label.Email today from 'Barun' of customer services who understandably said it was not Amazon policy to keep sending replacements because of possible faulty batch. Email talks about initiating refund etc. it quoted telephone number which we called because the CD set was a present to husband and we are enjoying the CD that does work! - a refund is not what we want and would prefer a replacement even if we have to wait for i.The lass in the Philippines call centre (New Year's Day) must have been trainee level and although pleasant, could not seem to grasp our issue - nor did she appear to have access to our complete record and when asked who Barun was, she had no clue. Asking if we could speak to supervisor was fruitless - it seems that she was reluctant to let us speak directly and would only put us on hold repeatedly while SHE obviously consulted somebody else. In the end, we are left expecting another replacement CD and hoping that it will work - or will Barun's message take precedence and Amazon will be awaiting our returned discs before issuing a refund???We really do want all JOHN RUTTER SONG BOOK and we would like to hold on to the disc that does play until a non faulty total replacement can be ours! We understand that it is not practical for them to check for a fault before they send a replacement but if they can consult bach numbers and if they have more than one from which to select perhaps chose another for our replacement. But surely the manufacturer/supplier can be involved in ensuring that we can have a non faulty box.

If you love Rutter (and who doesn't!), this is a real bargain - I say this although I bought the double album in the midst of the hottest summer and one of the CD's is a Christmas carols collection! You'll find many of his classics and the choice is varied and always beautiful. We drove from France to England and back and listened to it with delight. It's on now at home and I am singing along with joy and a smile in my heart.Looking forward to listening to the carols in due time - there is a 1st release on cd too - beauty!

Beautiful! Outstanding selection of Christmas music beautifully arranged and sung. The 2nd CD is equally delightful particularly the orchestral arrangement of Beatles songs. Could listen to this CD over and over and not tire of it. So pleased that I bought this. Five stars doesn't really do it justice!

Disappointed with this cd ,bought it for myself after hearing some tracks on Classic Fm. Songs are fine, music is fine as with all John Rutter material. Sadly the sound quality on both cd's is very poor. I have to turn up the volume on my player much higher than normal.Also the disc quality is very poor, being thin and the edges are sharp to the touch. Centre piece of the disc rough and not finished of properly.Classic fm should be informed.
