Good Price & Did the Job
Florida is the kind of place where lightning loves phone lines. I didn't have this installed a month and it got hit. It worked, didn't quite stop it quick enough to save the DSL filter but all else survived (phone and DSL modem.) You can hear the pop a split second before you hear the crack and the boom of the lightning. Like I said, it did the job the way it is intended to.

This little jewel just saved my brand new phone
Update to review from a couple of months ago: A really bad lightning strike at 3 am this morning ran in on the phone line, threw the breaker for the whole living room where my corded phone with answering machine was plugged into the jack and to the power outlet. The explosion inside was so loud I really thought my big TV had blown up. It's a blessing my house didn't catch on fire, here's what the phone guy found at the jack. Looked like black blazes on the white paneling all around the outlet cover. The end of the phone cord in the jack was melted off. it went through this little Tripp protector (which was fried too) and into a brand new phone, which was just fine once they got the phone line going again. Cost $15 to save my phone. I'm buying another spare Tripp right now! First photo is with the new jack installed. Second photo is what's inside.Phones need to be protected from power surges and this is the only thing on the market that can protect a phone line that isn't one of those giant bars about 8" long with a thick stiff 6' cord. I bought one spare, probably need to get a couple more because every time I need a replacement for something I depend on, it's discontinued. When a lightning strike hits, the surge protector will burn out (I've had it happen multiple times) but keeps the phone line safe. Had to get rid of cordless phones because of dangerous RF radiation so now I have old-time landline phones all over the house like I did 30 years ago. Each one needs to be protected.

Great Product
I have to admit that since purchasing this item and "installing" it - we've not had a lightning strike near the house. I've lost two phones due to lightning - and nether of them had the telephone surge protector. So, I'm optimistic that this device will protect the phone.

Compact and specs better than most suppressors
Compact, unobtrusive and no cords!!! Indicator lights make it easy to confirm they're operational. Haven't had a big power spike yet so not sure if they will do their job. However, based on their published specs, these little units protect a much larger range of surges, especially on the low voltage end, than much more expensive units. I believe they're a one-shot unit, but they are inexpensive so will not mind replacing if they blow because of a spike, and my electronics were saved. I haven't traveled with any of them yet, but the small size makes it easy to pack, and again, no cords!!

Not as advertised -- here's a picture of what I received (ordered 1 outlet version)
Be sure to buy the Tripp Lite Travelcube that is sold and fulfilled by Amazon, NOT the product with the same description sold by Plan Bravo. They sent us an old version of the product, with the UPC's covered over with an address label. There was still the sticky remains of a price label that had been on the product. The old package stated "manufacturing excellence for over 85 years" while the current product says "for over 90 years". So it is at least 5 years old. Also, the package said it has a 540 joule rating, not the 1080 of the the online description and of the current model sold by Amazon. I returned these old models and ordered the Amazon version, which was back in stock.

Easy and inexpensive protection.
The surge protector has good features, is fairly compact and seems to be quality material. I feel that having both the router and the phone line ( I have DSL service in my area) protected from surges is a good idea and it is done with one small plug in item. I just lost a router to a surge caused by static from an electrical storm and I do not want to go through that again.

Not for bonded DSL
A nearby lightning strike fried my DSL modem and the Ethernet port of a computer plugged into it. I tried putting this between the wall jack and modem but Speedtest showed I only got half the throughput as before, and the modem itself showed only 1 of the 2 upstream connections working. The real giveaway that this is not intended for bonded DSL is the 6' phone cord it comes with, only 2 of the conductors are present instead of the 4 in the cable that came with the modem.I will keep it to add a little protection to some stuff in the garage, just not the DSL modem I originally bought it for.
